Week of April 18, 2022
Navigation Notes
Hello Westside Families! Thank you to all who attended our Kindergarten Orientation and Literacy Night last week. Be sure to check out all the photos on our Facebook page! Our Book Fair continues this entire week, so be sure to grab your favorite items before they're gone!
If you RSVP's for the Title 1 Parent and Family Engagement Literacy Night but were unable to attend, materials were sent home with your child including learning activities. If you feel you need further assistance with the activities, and would like a virtual meeting and/or would like an additional copy, please feel free to contact us at: Burchinal.Rebecca@Brevardschools.org.
Students in grades K-3 will be taking their final i-Ready Diagnostic this week. Please encourage them to do their best and be HERE and ON TIME each day. These data points will help guide decisions for retention/promotion, class placements, and summer programs.
After final calculations of our fundraising efforts, we are proud to announce that Westside raised a little over $24,000 to enhance our outside areas for students! Thank you to all who participated and donated for this wonderful cause. We can't wait to begin the improvements! Any student who has collected $150 or more will be attending a special celebration this week as well! PK-2nd will be attending a Parachute & Popsicle party Tuesday and 3rd-6th will be having a fun kickball game on Thursday.
Wednesday, April 20th, is Purple UP! Day. We will be honoring any Explorers who are military children (parents are active duty) for their "service" to support their families. If your child is one of these heroes, please let your child's teacher know so we can celebrate them. On Wednesday, all students and staff are encouraged to wear purple to school!
On Thursday, Westside is excited to have Dr. Mark Mullins (Superintendent) and Ms. Katye Campbell (School Board Member) visit our campus. We can't wait to showcase all the academic growth and talents our Explorers have accomplished this year! Students are encouraged to wear Westside shirts or school colors (black & teal/turquoise) to show our spirit!
Talent Show auditions continue this week! If your child has not received an audition notice, please have them ask their teacher for clarification.
Have a wonderful week!
