Secrets of Rapa nui

Summary
The history of the Moai, wich were statues that were 14 ft tall and weighed about 14 tons. They are located on Rapa Nui, Chile, South America. The biggest one was 70 feet and weighed 270 tons. They were so big people think that they walked instead of being moved. There are tons of Moai now but back in 1877 there were only 111 in the world but by the late 1990's the population was back up between 2,000 and 3,000. They were and will always be fasinating to people around the world.

Archaeologists believe the island was discovered and colonized by Polynesians at about 400 AD. But a unique culture developed. The human population grew to levels that could not be sustained by the island. A civil war resulted, and the island’s ecosystem collapse was nearly complete.
