East High School Summer School Details
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As summer school nears, I wanted to reach out to provide some additional timely details and to reiterate some important details previously shared.
Because your child was enrolled in Algebra or Principles of Algebra or Geometry (PAG) last school year, it is important that he/she attend summer school to learn critical skills in preparation for the upcoming school year. Please plan to have your child attend.
Summer School Dates & Times
Summer school will be held August 3 – August 14. Attendance for each grade level or course is split in half. Students with last names beginning with A-M will attend class from 8:30-10:30. Students with last names beginning N-Z will attend summer school from 11:00-1:00.
Summer School Meals
Meals will be provided to all students. When the first session of summer school ends at
10:30 am, these students will be given a lunch and a breakfast to take home with them.
Students in the second summer session will arrive between 10:20 am and 10:30 am. These students will enter the building to eat lunch. Their instruction begins at 11:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm. They will then be given a breakfast to take home with them for the next day.
Water fountains will not be open for drinking. Please plan to send a water bottle with your child to school.
Transportation
Transportation will be available for all students. Each school has several identified bus stops where students can board the bus for school. To view a list of bus stops for East High School, visit https://www.siouxcityschools.org/east-high-school/ or see below for the bus schedule for East High School.
Safety
Your child’s safety and well-being is a high priority. As an extra safety measure, students and staff will be expected to bring a mask or shield to school daily. During movement outside of the classroom, such as walking in the hallway to different classes, students and staff will be expected to wear a mask or shield. Students are encouraged to bring their own mask or shield to school. Additional information will be shared in the weeks ahead to provide further guidance on the safety and health guidelines the District is following. Again, water fountains will not be open for drinking for public safety reasons. Please plan to send a water bottle with your child to school.
Our educators are ready to help your child succeed. Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education. If you have any questions, please contact me at toddr@live.siouxcityschools.com.
Sincerely,
Richard O. Todd
East High School
Principal
