Congratulations to Lotus's own, Mr. Gail Scobee!

We are so very proud of our own, Mr. Scobee who has received the 2021 Patricia Behring Teacher of the Year Award from the National History Day program for the state of Colorado. Mr. Scobee, along with other nominees will be recognized at the NHD National Contest Virtual Awards Ceremony on June 19, 2021.

MANDATORY STUDENT MATERIALS DROP-OFF!

Parents/Students,

We need your help! Many students picked up school items at the beginning and middle of the school year i.e. books, calculators, additional materials, etc. We are asking you to return these items on Friday, May 21st from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. in front of the main office. If you have specific questions about whether or not an item should be returned, please ask your teacher. If you have any other questions about the material drop off, please direct them to Mr. Watson at awatson@lotusschool.org. Thank you in advance for helping us to secure all borrowed items.


***Students who will be returning to Lotus for the 2021-2022 school year CAN KEEP their Chromebooks. If students are graduating or transferring to another school, they will be expected to return their Chromebooks. Either by appointment through the main office or at the date and time above.

Dear Parents,


Please reserve your student(s)' seats by letting us know that your student(s) will be returning for the 2021-2022 school year by filling out this Intent to Return form.


** Please be informed that Lotus will return to full-time in-person learning for the 2021-2022 school year.


** This form should be submitted only once per student. If you have multiple students in grades 6 through 12, please submit this form repeatedly for each one of them.

Lotus Graduation Announcement

The Class of 2021's graduation is quickly approaching. This year, the ceremony will be held at the Hangar at Stanley Marketplace. The ceremony will begin at 12pm. We are asking seniors to arrive no later than 11:15am. Covid precautions will be taken - masks are to be worn while indoors, 6ft social distancing between seating of family groups, temperature checks prior to entrance, and no-contact diploma distribution. At this time students are limited to 5 guests. More information will be shared as it is made available.

Need Tutoring Help?

The high school National Honor Society is hosting homework help and tutoring for all elementary and middle school students. Every Thursday between 3 and 4 pm, any elementary or middle school student who needs homework help or extra tutoring is welcome to join and work with the senior NHS members. FREE Summer program for 9th - 11th Graders

The Aquetza Academic Summer Program is looking for 52 Colorado high school students who have strong ties to Chicana/o and Latina/o communities. To be eligible, students must be in 9th 10th, or 11th grade during the 2020-21 school year and show potential or interest in leadership, creative expression and a deep concern for the social/educational issues prevalent in their home communities.

FINAL ATTENDANCE CONTEST OF THE YEAR!!

Congratulations to the 140 students 8 -12th grade that won our April Movie contest. Students should watch for an email to your school email with further information and details.


The final attendance challenge encourages all students to finish strong. We will have a raffle drawing with many prizes. Your student can get their name in the drawing by being present and attending all classes from May 3- May 21. We will hold our drawing and announce the winners the final week of school.

APS offering free COVID vaccine for students and families

Aurora Public Schools is partnering with STRIDE Community Health Clinic to host a FREE vaccination clinic for our families. The clinic will be open to individuals ages 16 and older.

REGISTRATION
Vaccines are free of charge and will be provided by appointment only. Please register and make your appointment at the link below. You will need to register each individual in your family separately. STRIDE staff may ask you for ID and proof of insurance. However, you do not need to provide an ID or proof of insurance to receive a vaccine.

  • Everyone signing up must be at least 16 years old by the date of the COVID vaccination. Anyone 16 or 17 years old must arrive with a parent or legal guardian in order to be vaccinated.
  • STRIDE will be offering the Pfizer vaccine only. Two doses are required at least 21 days (three weeks) apart. Once you get your first Pfizer vaccine, you will be automatically scheduled for your second dose three weeks later at the same time and place. Please note that you are considered 95% protected against COVID-19 infection two weeks after your second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Lotus first opened its doors in August 2006 with a total of 147 students in grades 6 and 7. Each year after that, its enrollment increased gradually to finally reach over 900 students, with grades spanning from Kindergarten to 12th. In such a diverse and disadvantaged community, for over a decade, Lotus has managed to instill interest in students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Today it is one of the most successful schools in Aurora.
