Article of the Month
Every student has unlimited potential. But there are contributing factors that can affect whether our children eventually live up to that potential. Experts believe that a parent’s role in a child’s life has far-reaching impact. Parental involvement is extremely important for a child to do well in school. Some parents may think that it is the teachers’ role to teach, not theirs. But such a belief does both the parents and the children a disservice. Children don’t start learning at 8:15 and stop at 3:00, Monday through Friday. They are always attuned to learning: at home, with friends, and through other influences. We don't want to split this repsonsibility with you, 50/50. We will give 100% and expect you to also give 100%! Our kids deserve it! https://www.usnews.com/opinion/knowledge-bank/articles/2017-06-20/parents-need-to-play-a-role-in-their-childrens-education
Head Start Survey
M-STEP 2019
Taking tests is a part of life. Enlistees are required to take a summative test to get into the military, as are students applying to most four-year colleges or universities. Many professionals — from plumbers to doctors — have to take tests to earn licenses. These end-of-the-school-year “summative” tests help prepare students for what lies ahead: tests for technical schools, college, the military, and many professions.
State standardized assessments like M-STEP are a type of “summative” assessment that measures student progress toward mastering a rigorous set of state standards.
Our 5th grade students begin testing in April and our 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade students take their assessments beginning in May.

School Calendar and Hours
The Annual School Calendars along with District information may be accessed online at www.marletteschools.org. Students are expected to be in class by 8:15 when the second bell rings and stay until the dismissal bell at 3:00. A pattern of late arrivals and/or early checkouts is considered truancy.
