Charlestown School Updates
For members of our learning community - May 1st, 2015
If you haven't already, please consider taking a short survey about our World Language Program !!!
We wonder how your child is enjoying their Spanish instruction…Are they sharing their learning at home?
Please complete the brief survey (by May 1).
We value your input, it should only take 5 minutes!
NECAP Science Assessment
Our school and district have made impressive gains in the area of science achievement. We believe this is due to our strong lesson and unit design and excellent instruction. We engage our students through the skilled use of kits for each unit of study. Teachers attend ongoing trainings through a partnership with Gems-Net at the University of Rhode Island. Students participate in many hands-on activities and work cooperatlvely with their peers. Our 4th graders will complete an inquiry task with peers in small groups as a part of the NECAP Assessment. They will also complete some science writing that is similar to work in their science notebooks and journals. Questions such as, "did your results match your prediction?" help students think deeply and reflect on their data.
We will provide an optional breakfast to each 4th grader on each testing morning and we encourage the students to get a good night's sleep. Our master schedule is adjusted so that will not miss any of their unified arts classes.
