Message From Our President
Dear Cougar Nation,
It’s hard to believe that school has been in session for a little over two months. What an enjoyable whirlwind! As the weather begins to change and the excitement around our campus continues to pick up, you can’t help but be excited about all the things going on at our school.
I have found myself amazed at the traditions and new events that I have had the privilege to be a part of these last few months. Let me express how thrilling it was for me last week to experience my first Cougar Nation Homecoming. The amount of effort and enthusiasm that went into all the weeks’ activities was unlike anything I have ever experienced as an administrator. From the spirit dress days, hallway competition, pep rally, alumni reception, and to the tailgate, Homecoming Week, for me, was fantastic and extremely enjoyable. To top it all off, the Cougars came out with a big win!
One of the truly gratifying experiences for me during Homecoming was attending the alumni reception that was hosted before the game. It was humbling to meet so many of our outstanding and loyal alumni. Hearing their old stores and seeing how much this school still means to them was an eye-opening experience. I went home that night thinking to myself that I want to do everything within my power to create that same experience for our current students.
I hope you have been pleased with the changes we have made this year. It is our continuous goal to make sure that we are doing everything within our power to create memorable experiences for our students while making sure we are equipping them to be successful disciples after their time here has ended. We've made great strides with both of those goals.
I have received wonderful feedback over the last few weeks from people in the Waco community about our students and school. The comment I hear the most is that there is a lot of excitement on our campus and our students are so happy. This shared comment says a lot to me about who we are as a community and where we are going.
There are many more upcoming events. I hope you will consider areas where you are able to help and look into ways in which you can get involved in one of our parent groups. I am very grateful to the parents who have taken the time to help put on our events. We've had fantastic participation from parents and families who want to be more involved. You will see parents helping with the Booster Club, SLPA events, and assisting with other school functions. My wish is that all parents can be more of a presence in our school community. We're off to a great start! You are always welcome here at St. Louis-Reicher Catholic School!
Thank you for your continued support. If you have questions or things you want to talk about, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Report Cards Released Today
Report Cards will be available to view on RenWeb today after 4:00 p.m. They also will be emailed out on Thursday. Please print the report cards at home, sign, and return the signed copy to your child’s homeroom teacher on October 21 at your conference.
Emergency Response Protocol
St. Louis-Reicher is using the I Love U Guys Standard Response Protocol to prepare our students and staff for situations that may arise on our campuses. Your child may have told you about drills that we have done so far this year, and we will continue to perform drills throughout the year. Keep in mind that if you visit school and their is a sign on the door about a drill in progress, we ask for your patience as we practice these procedures. Please see this infographic and visit iloveuguys.org for more information about this program.

Kindergarten Trick-or-Treat Service Project
Please give your child coins on Friday, October 18, and Friday, October 25, so they can give them to our kindergarten students as they trick-or-treat around the school starting at 8:15 a.m. on the above dates. Coins are being collected for St. Martha's Catholic School in Kingwood that was flooded by Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The school had just finished renovations, when tropical storm Imelda hit in September and flooded their school once more.

Items Needed for Service Project
The Reicher National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society will partner with The Blue Star Mothers in an effort to send Christmas Cards and needed supplies to our US troops that have been deployed overseas away from their families during Christmas.
We are currently in need of blank Christmas cards, Christmas stationary, Christmas stickers, and green and red construction paper. We are asking for any donations that you may have sitting around your house toward this effort over the next two weeks. Please feel free to send your donations in to Mrs. Kelly. We plan to write our letters as a school by October 25. If you have any questions, please email kkelly@reicher.org. Many thanks and Muchas Gracias from NHS and SHH!
