The Richardson Review
September 18th, 2022
Dear Richardson Students & Families,
Above you will see a photo from North St. Paul's Fall Round Up Parade last Thursday. Everyone who attended had a blast!!! If you were unable to attend this year, we hope you can do so next year. At Richardson, we value our school and neighborhood community and look forward to many more opportunities to get together outside of the school day this year.
Last week at Richardson, we continued to spend time getting to know each other (see below for a photo of Mr. Cook's 4th grade class in a community building morning circle) and practicing routines to set the foundation for a successful school year. We had our first fire drill on Thursday and Richardson's students did an AMAZING job!!! Along with practicing safety drills, ISD622 prioritizes safe and welcoming schools through a comprehensive
approach to school safety including building perimeter, interior safety features and
the daily health and well-being of our students and staff. (See our Safety one pager for more information).
I want to thank everyone who has helped us to make our pick-up area at dismissal time safer for our students, families and staff. With the changes we have made already, we were able to significantly cut down the time it takes (from start to finish) for families to pick up their students at the end of the school day. Please know we will continue to refine our process and we appreciate your support and commitment to collaborate as a school community.
In the hopes to make our morning arrival/drop-off time safer, we invited Richardson's School Resource Officer (a member of North St. Paul's Police Department) to give us suggestions. We have made some updates to our arrival/dismissal document to reflect his suggestions. One of the biggest areas of concerns is students/families crossing the road in front of cars. Our updated map/procedures now reflects his suggestion to not have families park on 16th street and to make sure you are crossing the road at areas where we have patrols/crossing guards located. Change is always hard, but we do feel this will help us to have a safer drop- off. We have had some "close calls" already this year, so we feel it is imperative to put these changes in place to avoid any potential accidents this year.
We are excited to start another week together at Richardson Elementary school! See below for a fundraiser sponsored by Richardson's PTA at Raising Cane's on Tuesday, Sept 20th. Don't forget to mention "Richardson Elementary" to ensure proceeds are donated to our PTA.
Please feel free to contact the main office, or me, at any time with questions, concerns, and/or suggestions. My contact information is mhoude@isd622.org or 651-748-6910.
Together,
Mrs. Houde (pronounced "hood")
