Sherman ISD School Board Approves Technology Upgrades
All Sherman ISD campuses will receive updated technology next school year after the Sherman ISD Board of Trustees recently approved a $3.3 million district-wide technology upgrade.
The upcoming technology enhancements will be the first full-scale technology upgrade for the district in 12 years and will provide all teachers with a laptop and docking station, a 75-inch interactive wall panel, and a wireless document camera. Sherman ISD instructions staff will also transition from desktops to laptops.
In the spring of 2018, the Sherman ISD Cross-Functional Technology Committee, comprised of teachers, principals, students, and parents began meeting to identify new technology that would enhance student learning. In the fall of 2018, SISD teachers previewed an interactive projector and panel and provided feedback to the committee. Based on that feedback and research, the SISD technology department presented the information during the April board meeting, and the board approved the recommended upgrades and technology toolkit. The upgrades will meet the district’s objective to increase teacher mobility and instructional flexibility within the classroom, improve student interdependence and collaboration, and increased the connectedness between students inside the classroom and beyond.
In the spring of 2018, Sherman ISD began wireless and infrastructure upgrades and in March of 2019, additional upgrades, which included a new classroom sound, bells, and paging system were installed. During the third phase, teachers will receive their new laptops in the summer so they can begin the 2019-2020 school year with a new device. All upgrades are scheduled to be completed before the end of the first semester of the 2019-2020 school year.
A complete list of the Sherman ISD approved Technology Tool Kit is listed below:
• Teacher laptop with docking station
• Wireless document camera
• Interactive projection panel
• New classroom audio system
• Learning Management System
More than 50 teachers, administrators, campus tech specialist, parents, and community members met in February, April, and October of 2018 to begin the process for district-wide technology upgrades.

Sherman ISD Spring Enrollment of Benefits
This spring, there will be meetings held at each campus to discuss the insurance products. This will include voluntary life insurance, vision, dental, heart, cancer, and other supplemental benefits. Last year, we added a Health Saving Account (HSA) option for employees. An HSA is similar to a flexible spending account; however, one big difference is that you do not have to spend the money in one calendar year and you can even take your account with you if you resign or retire and use it at a later date.
The meeting dates and dates of when the representatives will be at the campus are listed below. If you have any additional questions, please contact Human Resources Executive Director Jill O'Neal.
