OLVCS Updates
April 21st, 2023
Dear Families and Friends of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School,
I have had many weeks in the past year-and-a-half that seem to have a theme, such as “blessed are the peacemakers,” “take your time and think it through,” or “somebody get maintenance; it’s starting to overflow.” This week’s theme, thankfully, was “a little goes a long way.”
Jesus can do a lot with our human efforts as our children heard in John’s Gospel today: "There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many? Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted.”
Though it’s not a small thing to perform in front of a large audience, Today’s Mass was bookended with songs performed by our 6th grade (prelude) and 3rd grade (postlude). These songs were two great offerings to God in our weekly liturgy and made an immense impact.
Along similar lines, our Middle School Track Team members have been digging in for a little extra, with many of our runners and throwers setting personal records this week. Congratulations to them on their great efforts so far this season!
A little bit of love and appreciation goes a long way. For the past week, our students have been preparing cards and treats for Father George to show our appreciation for all that he does for our school. Priests are so valuable to our Catholic school students, and in many ways represent to them what the Catholic Church is. Father George’s engaging and light-hearted nature is a great example of taking on life’s challenges with grace, finding in them joy and humor, and we are very grateful for him.
Coming soon:
Next Thursday, April 27, you are invited to our Spring Band and Strings Concert at 6:30pm in our school auditorium.
Next Friday is First Reconciliation for 2nd grade (following school Mass).
And next Saturday is the Father Daughter Dance (details below).
Please continue to scroll through our newsletter for all of the upcoming activities, fundraisers, and other opportunities from our parish and schools.
God bless,
Jim Hoy

For the PA FBLA competition, Yangula and Woomer had to create and present an original computer program that, if implemented, could improve student involvement at their school. This program had to be able to track student participation and attendance at school events and award students points for participation.
