Do The Right Thing Winners
Leah Koehler, Mrs. Hamam
Lilly led the community for over two years in raising money needed to add swings to the 2nd and 3rd grade playground. She organized several school fundraisers and events in the town. Lilly was featured in the Gaston County Schools website for her kind deed. The entire school celebrated her with a dedication ceremony. Lilly saw a need and worked to be the change she wanted to see. Within two years, she raised $11,000. Lilly is a visionary leader. She has gone above and beyond to help her school and community.
Leah has been a great friend and helper with a new student in the classroom. She has worked with her to help her learn the daily routine, word study words, participation, and reading procedures. The new student recently moved to the United States and is still becoming proficient in English. Leah has gone out of her way to welcome her and make her transition smooth.
