Back-to-School Packet
Emergency Cards and annual acknowledgements and consents are online in ParentVUE
The Back to School Packet, where Parents/Guardians can review emergency cards, update contact information, and complete annual policy reviews and acknowledgement, is now available in ParentVUE.
All families should complete the Back to School Packet as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, September 15, 2023. The information you provide will allow school staff to ensure the safety of your student this school year.
If you need assistance, or you do not have an active ParentVUE account, please contact Jennifer Nelson at NelsonJS@pwcs.edu or 703-754-7181
Transportation
Bus stop and schedule information will be available in StudentVUE and ParentVUE by August 11, 2023. Please check your bus stop times frequently leading up to the first day of school. The transportation team is consistently adding new stops, more students, and balancing overloads.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS:
Kindergarten students must be accompanied to and from bus stops by an authorized person(s).
Your child will not be released to any authorized person(s) unless a valid government/state ID is presented to the bus driver daily.
Your child will be returned to the school if there is no authorized person at the bus stop or the designee does not have a valid government/state ID.
Students returned to the school must be picked up within one hour or other county agencies will be notified.
Kiss and Ride
We are happy to offer a 'Kiss and Ride' option to our families who prefer to drive their child. Students being dropped off in the morning do not need to be registered for 'Kiss and Ride'. If you will be picking your child up in the afternoon, please register for a 'Kiss and Ride' number by visiting Tyler's front office with a photo ID. To join the line, drive down to Pace West, circle their bus loop (slowly), and idle on the access road. A staff member will direct you into the parking lot for drop off/pick up at the designated time. We begin unloading cars at 8:35AM. The tardy bell rings at 8:45AM. Those already in line when the 8:45AM bell rings will not be counted as tardy. Those that enter after the tardy bell will be directed to park and sign their child in with front office staff. In the afternoon, we begin loading cars at 3:25PM. Staff members will be wearing yellow traffic vests. It is expected that all visitors follow the directions of staff members. Thank you for helping us ensure safety is the priority.
Immunizations
Students must have required immunizations to attend school.
Proof of immunization due by August 17, to begin school on Monday, August 21.
Visitors and Volunteers
Tyler is excited to welcome our visitors and volunteers back into the building by September 5, 2023. All visitors and volunteers must present a photo ID and be checked into our RAPTOR system upon arrival. Volunteers are required to review and sign the volunteer guidelines for PWCS.
*Lunch visitors will begin starting the week of September 5th. Thank you for allowing our students two weeks to establish routines and procedures.
Celebrations
We want every student to feel celebrated on their special day. As a regular part of our morning announcements, birthdays are announced. Students are invited to come to the office for their birthday pencil. This has become a popular tradition at Tyler that we look forward to continuing. We understand that families may also want to do something special for their child's birthday.
Open Special Day Certificate for more information on student birthday celebrations.
*Birthday party invitations are NOT permitted to be passed out at school. Thank you for helping us to keep the focus on learning.
