AHS Library Procedures:

Did you know?

  • The library is open every day from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
  • Library Lunch Passes are available from our library desk at the start of each lunch to return after eating.
  • Students need a pass from their teacher to come to the library during study hall.
  • Students need a school ID and a written pass (or Falcon Pass) to enter the library.
  • We have a charging station for students to charge their devices. Yes, we do!

OverDrive @ APL

Do you or your children have a device or smartphone? OverDrive is our e-book and audio-book platform. Listen to an audio-book or read a book on your device for free with a student ID or public library card. Join librarians from Albany Public Library and Albany High to learn how to download e-books to your tablet or smart phone. These events are for students, parents and families. For more information, call the Albany High School Library at (518) 475-6320. The first event is Wednesday, 1/21 and the second event is Wednesday, 2/11. Both are scheduled from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Pine Hills Public Library branch.

TeenReaderCon Update

The inaugural TeenReaderCon took place on Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at Shenendehowa Middle School in Clifton Park and was a roaring success. Over 350 students, teachers, parents and librarians enjoyed presentations, conversations with popular YA authors at this FREE event! Next year's event planning is already underway!

DuoLingo Language App

This iOS/Android app and online practice site allows students to practice speaking languages with their device or PC. In 2013, Apple chose Duolingo as its iPhone App of the Year, the first time this honor was awarded to an education app.

In Case You Missed it...

Our first major library event of the year took place on Thursday, October 23rd. We hosted Holocaust survivor, speaker and author Marion Blumenthal Lazan. She co-wrote the book Four Perfect Pebbles: A Holocaust Story and amazed our audience with her inspirational messages of tolerance, respect and hope. Over 230 students and faculty attended this fantastic author presentation and were able to purchase autographed copies of her book.

March Author Visit!

The talented Ruta Sepetys, young adult author of Out of the Easy and Between Shades of Gray will be visiting Albany High School on Wednesday, March 18th. Multiple copies of both of her titles are available for check out. Students, parents, faculty and families are invited to join our GoodReads online book discussion group @ bit.ly/ahsbookclub. Descriptions of both titles are posted on our GoodReads page. We hope you join us for discussions on her books and others.
