Suicide Prevention Training

Suicide is the third leading cause of death for persons age 15-24, and number one cause of death for 10-14 year olds. According to the 2015-2016 Michigan Profile for Healthy Youth data, one in five Michigan students seriously considered suicide. An average of 15% of Michigan high school students made a suicide plan, and one in ten students actually attempted suicide.

This training will:
  • Examine the warning signs and risk factors for suicide
  • Michigan legislation dealing with adolescent suicide prevention
  • The role of school personnel in responding to the warning signs of suicide
  • The role of school policy in prevention, intervention and postvention of suicide
