Kawartha News
November 2022
Hello November!
October was another great month at Kawartha Heights. We had lots of activities for all our students to enjoy including Spirit Day’s, Drum-it-Up, and Halloween parties. It was so nice to see our students smiling, laughing, and enjoying the learning throughout the month. We really do have an amazing school with fantastic kids, families, and staff!
Now it is November, and it is a month of remembrance and reflection. We remember past and current sacrifices and are grateful for living in a country where we enjoy peace and many freedoms. On the 11th we will participate in two minutes of silence, the playing of the Last Post, the recitation of In Flanders Fields, and the wearing of poppies.
There is lots to look forward to this month. Please read to the bottom of this newsletter for important upcoming dates. I look forward to another great month at Kawartha Heights.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ostapek
Progress Reports
On November 18th Progress Reports will be sent home. Students will receive a check mark in one of three columns for subject areas: “Progressing with Difficulty”, “Progressing Well”, or “Progressing Very Well”.
Progressing Very Well is defined as “The student consistently demonstrating significant progress in their learning of curriculum expectations and is expected to achieve the learning goals”.
Progressing Well is defined as “The student is demonstrating sufficient progress in their learning of the curriculum expectations and is likely to achieve the learning goals of the term”.
Progressing With Difficulty is defined as “The student is demonstrating some progress of the curriculum expectations and shows that they need further support to achieve the learning goals of the term”.
Teachers will use their professional judgment to determine a student’s progress and will highlight strengths and areas to improve in the curriculum.
