Letter from the Principal
Dear Tualatin Families,
We have had a successful start to the school year for all our 1st-5th graders this week. We all have enjoyed seeing so many of our returning families, and meeting several new ones during family connect meetings to help start the year off well. We appreciate all your attention at home to perform basic health screening to make sure all students coming to school feel well, and any students not feeling well stay home to feel better. Tualatin Elementary is a great school for students to be in each day for in person learning this year.
Lunch Time Reminder:
All students will eat outside under our covered area every day as we start this school year. Please remember to send your child with the appropriate clothing as the weather changes this fall.
ABSENCES: Please call our attendance line if your child is going to be absent or tardy (503.431.4770). If your child has an unexcused absence you will receive an automated phone call. You simply need to acknowledge the call by responding to the directions given in the message. The system will continue calling all of the phone numbers listed for you or your family until someone confirms that the call was received. The automated calling system helps us communicate with families to ensure your child’s safety.
Every Student On Time Every Day: Please remember that classroom instruction starts at 8:00 A.M. each day. One of our school’s goals is that we maximize classroom learning time. When your child is on time, everyone wins! Your child is settled in for the day and ready to learn, teachers may teach without interruptions and lessons can begin promptly. Thank you in advance for helping your child arrive at school on time every day.
PreK - Kindergarten:
Tuesday, September 14 Only: one parent/guardian will be able to walk their PreK or Kindergarten student to the classroom door, say a quick good-bye and return outside. This is only for the first day on Tuesday.
masks are required for all students and adults

AM PreK starts at 8:00 AM on Tuesday, September 14th

please return chargers to school if not needed at home; we will use them
Thank you families
We greatly appreciate all of our families who have supported our need to start school in a safe, healthy and responsible way. Our goal is to keep our students in person every day this school year. To do this successfully, we rely on our family partnerships. Your assistance includes basic health screening at home each morning, helping your child get a full night of sleep and communicating with your child’s teacher and our office regularly. We will have a successful school year when we all work together well.
I am looking forward to having another great school year together at Tualatin Elementary.
With Gratitude,
Mr. Kingery
Principal

Pick up and Drop Off at Tualatin Elementary
ARRIVAL
We are asking parents to drop off students at the parking lot sidewalk or near the flagpole prior to reaching the "Bear Crossing". Students will then follow the bear paws on the sidewalk to the front door under cover area and wait on a bear paw until the doors open according to the schedule.DISMISSAL
Students will meet parents at the flagpole or on the parking lot sidewalk. School staff will assist directing students to cars by the parking lot curb as in the past. We ask that all parents stay in their cars and display the sign with student name(s) and teacher name. Please socially distance on the upper sidewalks or a bear paw while waiting.
Important: please communicate how your child will be going home with your child’s teacher:
WALKING HOME: Independently or with friends - designate a spot to meet before walking home. Please let your child’s teacher know if we need to help with this.
CAR PICK-UP: Be patient and please wait in your car. When we see the sign with student name(s) and teacher(s) we will call for them to come out along the sidewalk.
IN-PERSON PICK BY FLAGPOLE: When we see the sign with student name(s) and teacher(s) we will call for them to come out
