Senior Banquet Presentation
May 2021
To the Class of 2021:
I would like to extend my congratulations to the Randolph-Henry High School graduates. These past four years have been an incredible journey for you and your families. On May 22, 2021, you will graduate and become part of a longstanding tradition of excellence. Being a Randolph-Henry High School alumni is something that I hope you will always be proud of. As you look ahead to your future I can imagine that you are filled with many uncertainties. Do not be afraid to take that first step out into the world. I say with confidence that as a Statesmen you are well prepared to spread your wings and seek your next adventure.
If you were to look up the definition of a Statesman you would find words like wise, skillful, and a respected leader. I cannot think of any words better to describe our graduates. You are wise because you have been instructed by a group of incredibly dedicated educators. A worldwide pandemic didn’t stop your teachers from finding a way to deliver quality instruction to you. You also discovered new and creative ways to learn and manage your time during what seemed like impossible circumstances. Our Statesmen are wise in ways that one may not expect from a high school senior. This year forced many of our students to take on adult level responsibilities like full time jobs. You balanced work, family, school and extracurricular activities all while being a high school student.
Our Statesmen are also skillful. Our students receive many real world skills while participating in our classes. Many of our graduates have received Associate’s Degrees, industry certifications, and work based learning experiences all before graduating from high school. These skills will serve you well whether you are entering the workforce, joining the military, or heading to college.
Above all, I am proud to say our students are respected leaders. Everywhere we look we see young leaders assuming new roles in their classrooms, within extracurricular groups, in their communities, and in the work place. Our seniors are respectful, well mannered, and strong advocates for others. I know that this is a direct result of the strong role models that have been a part of your life here in Charlotte County. There is something special about being raised in a small community where so many people come together to mold our children into young adults. The Randolph-Henry parents and community members go above and beyond to ensure each student has what is needed and to provide all of the extras that make the experience of growing up so special. Please know that you are surrounded by an amazing group of adults who have cheered for you and who will continue to root for your success for the rest of your life.
I am grateful to have been a small part of your journey at Randolph-Henry. My hope is that you will keep learning, keep growing, and keep searching for new and exciting opportunities that challenge you. Just know that you will always have a place here at home in Charlotte County. Congratulations!
