Grateful Heart
I am grateful for...
....Dena Wheeler, who takes her crossing guard responsibilities seriously. This week, Deena brought tools from home and raked leaves while she waited for students to need her to cross them! I also appreciate Dena's faithfulness and cheerful attitude about her duties outside.
...Terri Freyou, who donated $2000 worth of reading materials to the literacy library.
...Kelly Jenkins, for her enthusiasm, positive attitude and love of kids along with her dedication.
...Devin, who has taken over the management of the 3D printer. Terri says Devin's adoption of that piece of technology has sped up the production for students, which is a great thing.
....Mary Spencer Huber for her commitment to our students, SPED and not, ASPIRE and traditional. Mary has a great ability to talk with parents and help them understand difficult issues about their children, and she also helps us ENORMOUSLY as we deal with difficult behaviors. Our capacity to deal with challenges has grown through the years through her guidance, and as we see additional ASPIRE students who have emotional difficulties, she's helping us learn how to approach those behaviors in a constructive way.

Sherlock visits
- Karly has the kids "catch" their answer by covering their mouth and then everyone "throws" the answer at her (answering out loud.)
- This teacher did some awesome activity about writing fluency and the students were in a routine with it. They would spend a few minutes at the beginning of journal writing time talking about the importance of fluency in writing. Then three students would throw out a topic and the students would choose one of the three and write for three minutes, charting the number of words they had written.
- Terri Freyou was amazing and sat down to show me how to use Symbaloo as a great organizing tool in my classroom for all my online workstations, activities and projects.
- Megan Arnold was doing Recap in her room and helped me get my class set up. I did the first one today and they loved it!
- "Fist to Five" Courtney Ervin at HES showed me this assessment technique:
- 5- I'm on fire, I can teach others.
- 4- I've got this, I can show you
- 3- I'm okay trying it on my own.
- 2- I could use help from a classmate
- 1- I need help from the teacher
- 0- I don't understand
Each of these should have only taken a couple of minutes to write up, but each shares an idea that was seen in another classroom. Think of it like bees pollinating flowers- the more we can spread good ideas, the better our garden!

Any interest?
I don't want to sign up for this and have someone trying to talk to staff at lunch if there is no interest. Please let me know if you'd like to hear more or I won't arrange for this!!!
