Dillon's Doings...
See what is happening in First Grade!
What are we aiming for?
Next week we plan to finish up Unit 6; How are animals different? We will focus on -ee and -ea for our phonics skill. I want to remind you how important it is to have your child reading every night... this can be done on a device, from a magazine, or books~ just get them excited about it and then ask them to tell you about what they are reading. Reading so special friends is always an incentive as well :)
We are doing a lot of comparing and contrasting with text. There have been some great discussions about the differences between fiction and nonfiction and what they look like and how the author writes them. This helps build our own writing skills.
Transitional words have been a focus during writing workshop... using words like next, then, finally, so, after, to help the reader be lead through the story.
Look forward to some published stories coming home soon!
