According to the Constitution, to serve as President:
  • a person most be at least 35 years old
  • a U.S. resient for at least 14 years
  • a natural-born citizen

Republican nominee
  • Mitt Romney is running as the Republican nominee

Democratic nominee
  • Barack Obama is running as the Democratic nominee

Popular votes
  • votes cast by regular citizens
  • they have to have popular votes to add up the electoral votes

Electoral College
  • a candidate must win at least 270 electoral votes
  • the candidate who wins the popular vote gets all of that state's electoral votes
  • the electoral votes are cast in December

Running mate
  • person that will be vice president
  • the vice president will be president if something happens to the president
