Puma Pride Celebrations
Each month on late start Tuesdays we will start our day with a Puma Pride Celebration. This is a time for us to celebrate all the wonderful things our Rosa Parks students are doing in school each day and to show our Puma Pride. We also welcome a guest speaker each month who talks about topics related to our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and our Top 20 curriculum. This month the head women's basketball coach from MNSU, Emilee Thiesse along with team captains Logan Anderson and Claire Ziegler spoke to our students about cooperation and teamwork while demonstrating some pretty amazing basketball drills! We also surprised the students with a teacher dancing flash-mob to the tune of Shakira's "Try Everything"! (See picture above.)
Top 20 Focus: Creating a Culture of Learning
The month of September is all about Creating a Culture of Learning. This month staff are guiding students through understanding their role in the classroom and in school. There is a focus on building positive relationships and understanding our four jobs at Rosa Parks:
Job #1: Help Others Succeed
Job #1: Help Others Succeed
- Every day we come to Rosa Parks and help each other be the best we can be. This helps us become the best version of ourselves and makes our school the best it can be.
Communicate You Matter
- Every single person at Rosa Parks is important. Part of our job is to make sure that we treat people respectfully and in a way that lets them know how much they matter.
Honor the Absent
- At Rosa Parks we only say good things about other people-especially when they aren't in the room.
See the Problem, Own the Problem
- If something is happening that we don't think is right, we try to find a solution instead of ignoring it. Sometimes we can solve a problem on our own, but sometimes we need adults to help us figure it out.
