Updated Lunch Times starting Aug 30th

After being in school for a few weeks, we have been able to look at areas in the school day that we want to improve. As with anything, there needs to be time to live in an environment before we truly understand what should be changed. Starting on Monday, Aug 30th, the lunch times will be changed slightly so that there is no overlap in grades K -4. This means that students will be able to spread out even more while they are eating. There will also be 5 minutes in between each group to perform additional sanitation. Recess happens right after lunch. Students do have a snack in the mid-morning if they have a late lunch.

  • 11:00 - 11:20 AM - 4th grade and PreK
  • 11:25 - 11:45 AM - 3rd grade
  • 11:50 - 12:10 PM - 2nd grade
  • 12:15 - 12:35 PM - 1st grade
  • 12:40 - 1:00 PM - Kindergarten

Knoxville Foodservice Software

Knoxville Foodservice has made a switch to Titan for our software. We are excited for all the new things that come with it. If you go to the Foodservice page on the Blue Bullets website (www. you will find menus and nutritional information on those menu items.

There are also additional tabs with Nutrition information, Fitness, the school Wellness policy, contact information and Nutrition Education. This software is helping us stay up to date with nutrition information and stay in compliance with USDA guidelines for school nutrition.

We realize our payment system has a higher fee, but if you set up an account you can see what your children are eating and move money between children's accounts yourself without having to make a payment online. You are still able to send in money in an envelope marked with your child's name for deposits and would be able to use the online system only as needed.

PTO Meeting

Thursday, Sep. 2nd, 6pm

106 Pleasant Avenue

Knoxville, IL

We would love to see you at this month's PTO meeting! Childcare will be available as well. We will be discussing the annual Mini Blitz that will take place on Friday, Sept. 24th during the school day. This is the largest fundraiser of the year. In addition, we will discuss possibilities for additional playground items for the students and much more!

Congratulations to Mrs. VanOpdorp's class - they had the highest number of family visits over the last week! The number to beat is 90 views! As a reminder, important information is being shared over SeeSaw from the classroom.

Assessment Information

This week we started administering a short phonics assessment in all grades K through 4. This will help us identify any areas that need more support. In addition, we will be benchmark assessing all students on STAR Reading and Math in the next two weeks. These are tests that each student will take electronically at least 3 times a year. Both of these assessments will help us plan for intervention and instruction for all students.
