The 7th Grade Skinny
Week 4 9/21
Quote of the Week
Teacher struggles to hold back inevitable eye roll.
Advisory isn't an unstructured study hall anymore? What a scam!
We also talked about the importance of not posting phone numbers and addresses on social networks. A lot of students admitted to having their phone numbers and personal emails listed. Check with your 7th grader! To remove this information on Instagram, students must use the website, not the application.
We also learned how to unsubscribe from email blasts and how to turn off location services on our phones for applications that follow us.
Here is a link to the google lesson plan we used. We encourage you to continue the discussion at home!
Remember that time when you went to Back to School Night and you only had time to talk to one teacher.....
If you have more than one child in middle school and only one parent is coming, pick the classes you most want to see based on your schedules.
Please be advised that this is not a time for personal conferences with teachers. For one-on-one conferences, please reach out to teachers to make an appointment. Conference day will also be restructured. Stay tuned for more on that in a few weeks!
I discovered on Schoology that my 7th grader performed poorly on an assignment and I want to know why.....
If there is not a comment, please encourage your 7th grader to visit the teacher at scheduled office hours or email his or her teacher to make an appointment.
By this grade, students should be responsible for their own learning!
I wish my son or daughter spent more time serving the community and improving his or her leadership skills......
Not only will this help serve the Pasadena community, give your son or daughter leadership experience, but it will also look great on the 8th grade brag sheet going to high schools!
There is a rigorous training program that requires your 7th grader to be available from 3:30-5:30 on Wednesday afternoons, starting this Wednesday and continuing for the month of October. Click this link for the schedule of trainings and tours.
Here is the application and further information.
For questions, please email nsanders@mayfieldjs.org
If your 7th grader decides he or she can and wants to participate in this program, the application must be submitted to Ms. Sanders by Tuesday September 23rd.
