Olson Playground Improvements
We'd like to give a huge thank you shout out to the students who worked with Olson's custodial team to paint many fun games on the blacktop. Thank you to McKenna, Myla, Easton, Nolan, Audrey, Addie Jo, and Eleanor and their parents!
After repaving the entire blacktop, District 200 Buildings and Grounds repainted our basketball lines and add several dump trucks of mulch to the playground.
Mr. Justice will be reviewing the rules for playground games such as Gaga Ball and 4-Square so everyone can join in on the fun, play fairly, and enjoy recess time.

Birthdays
In case you missed it from the last newsletter, here is the birthday information for the year.
There are several ways that we celebrate a student's birthday at school. If you would like to send in a treat from home as a means of celebration, students are allowed to bring in food this year. Of course non-edible items such as stickers, pencils, or donating a book to the library continue to be great options too.
If students would like to bring in food, it must be store bought, nut-free, and come with an ingredient label for allergy purposes. Treats do not need to be individually wrapped. Healthy treats are always encouraged but you can send in a sweet treat if you prefer.
Please remember that birthday party invitations may only be passed out at school if every child in the class is receiving one.
Information from the McHenry County Housing Authority
The 2023 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is starting on September 1st. LIHEAP assists one time, per program year, with gas, electric and propane, with the benefits being based on household size and income. Our program assists the families in McHenry County, which have monthly gross incomes of up to 200% of the federal poverty level. The families that we assist are, collectively, our neighbors, friends and loved ones. There are so many families that would benefit tremendously from our program, but they do not know that we are here to help, or they are too overwhelmed. We now have a temporary water/sewer program; the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program(LIHWAP). The water/sewer program can be applied for one time, per program year. I have attached an informational document regarding our programs and flyers to display/handout. I would truly appreciate it if you would consider including this information when sending out your newsletters. Please reach out to me with any questions that you may have. I truly appreciate any assistance in sharing our program information with our local families in need.
