How many book pages can you read in three weeks?

The 7th Annual Rotary Reading Challenge runs January 18-Feb. 8

The Rochelle Rotary Club sponsors our annual reading challenge, donating $1,000 to purchase new books for the LMC if students and staff meet the reading goal. We are reading in teams again this year, and team sign-ups are due today at 3:15.

Monday, January 18 Team rosters are due to Mrs. Jinkins today. Teams may have 2-6 students and MUST have one RTHS staff member (Teacher, Support Staff, Café, Maintenance, Administrator, etc.). The team captain MUST be a student.
January 18-January 24 Week one reading begins! Keep track of the number of book pages you read each week on the green bookmark from your captain and report to your captain every Sunday/Monday.
January 25, February 1, and February 8 Captains will report team reading stats every Monday using a Google form on the LMC Edline page.
Grand Prizes will be announced/awarded on February 9 and 10.

Laura Ruby's Bone Gap wins the 2016 Printz Award

The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. It is named for a Topeka, Kansas school librarian who was a long-time active member of the Young Adult Library Services Association. The award is sponsored by Booklist, a publication of the American Library Association.

Bone Gap is on order for the LMC, but available now in eRead Illinois.

"Told from alternating viewpoints, Bone Gap perfectly melds elements of fairy tales, myths, gothic romance, and magic realism into the story of Finn, who lives in a town with gaps in the very fabric of time and place."--ALA

Over the next few weeks, I'll highlight the winners of the other ALA youth media awards. For more information, visit http://www.ala.org/yalsa/bookawards/booklists/members.
