Women's Suffrage Cartoons

Average Woman's Mind
This picture kind of represents how men thought women's brains work during this time period. Implying that women should only worry about children, housework, their husbands, and other domestic things in that area.
Votes for Women
This picture shows the development of women over time and how they've grown, gaining more knowledge and power and no longer being the "average housewife". This fits in to the fact that women had to take a stand and show their strength and development during the women's suffrage in order to be treated as an equal towards men.
Woman's Suffrage
This picture represents how the women's suffrage time period challenged the traditional thought of how women shouldn't vote. This also shows how many women came to together in order to make a change and fight for equality.
Irony
This picture is actually quite ironic when it comes to the women's suffrage movement because the movement in itself is about women establishing their independence and standing up for equality but this women saying "I'll have to ask my husband" represents how she isn't his equal since she has to ask for his permission.
Female Voters
I personally like this one the best because its so true. Its one of the many reason why women SHOULD vote and also a very important one because without women there would be no men to vote because each man was brought into this world by a woman, not another man.
Equal Rights
Believe it or not the woman on the right is actually trying to take away the equal rights sign from the woman on the left and if you look closely you can see the woman on the right has other signs behind her. She represents the women that agreed with the men that women should not be considered equal to men and should not have the right to vote.
Women Work, Women Vote
This picture represents the fact that women felt as if they can have the right to work why can't she have the right to vote also?
What Will Men Wear???
I like this picture because it represents the selfishness of men and how they felt as if wearing pants was something only men should do and if women start wearing them then what are men supposed to wear. In other words they felt that if women start doing things intended for men then that particular thing loses its purpose and/or quality.
Susan B. Anthony
Susan, along with a few other women, were arrested in 1872 for voting because of the fact that they were women. This, among other arrests, shows the lengths men took in order to stop women from voting.
Woman Suffrage
This picture pretty much speaks for itself. It shows that women are willing to do anything along side men, not behind them or in front of them but beside them and together. That's all women wanted during the suffrage, they wanted equality.
