Hello from Mrs. Knoeppel

I hope everyone had a good Labor Day Weekend! We are excited to share that we have additional supplies for our students to enhance Virtual Learning instruction. Please read carefully the schedule below to know when to come to school to pick up materials.

We highly encourage use of earbuds or headphones for all students in K-6. This helps students tune out distractions around them and helps them focus on classroom instruction. The sound quality of the teacher's voice is also much clearer when earbuds or headphones are utilized. If families need help purchasing earbuds due to financial hardship, please call our office and we can assist.

CCSD15 Supply Pick Up Date at Lincoln School

Lincoln Families,

Classroom teachers and CCSD15 have gathered additional materials for students to enrich the Virtual Learning Classroom. Our staff has put materials in a bag with a handle for each student. Pick up days will be Monday, 9/14 and Tuesday 9/15. Families can enter the Lincoln car loop on Farmgate and a staff member will bring your bag to your car. All families should go to their HOME SCHOOL, unless in the Gifted program or in a Special Education Self Contained classroom.

Monday 9/14:

8:00 am - 11:00 am: Students whose last names begin with A - M.

12:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Students whose last names begin with M - Z.

4:00 pm - 7:00 pm: Families who need to come after work hours.

Tuesday 9/15:

8:00 am - 11:00 am: General Pick Up for those who could not come on Monday.

No Student Attendance September 18

District 15 will be utilizing an ISBE-granted E-Learning Plan Day on Friday, September 18. There will not be student attendance or instruction on this date. During this time, teachers will be learning how to implement instructional technology tools GoGuardian and Zoom.

All Children Eat Free

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced this week that all school meals for children will be free through December, 2020. Because of this announcement, school meals will no longer be charged to a student’s account. All meals will be free to any child under the age of 18, regardless of ability to pay. Children do not need to be present for a parent to pick-up a meal.

For information on how to access free meals, please visit our website. Meals are delivered to select locations Monday-Friday

Parent/Student Handbook Revised

Each year, the District updates the Parent/Student Handbook to inform families about policies and procedures for the current school year. The 2020-21 handbook has been updated, and includes many changes related to COVID-19. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the content of this year’s handbook by visiting our website.

This update was shared by Dr. Heinz regarding CCSD15's rolling re-entry plan:

New restrictive guidance issued from the Illinois Department of Public Health, paired with several positive COVID-19 cases among our own staff following new teacher orientation one week ago, have unfortunately made it clear that we must delay our re-entry to in-person instruction at this time.

Specifically, our starting date for rolling re-entry will be delayed until Monday, September 21 and be implemented on a modified schedule.

Monday, September 21: Kindergarten and K-8 self-contained special education programs

  • CLA: ACES, Multiple Needs (MN), Early Childhood SIP: Half-day only (9:00-11:30 a.m.); transition to a full- or extended-day starting on Tuesday, October 13

Monday, September 28: Grades 1-2 and self-contained early childhood

Monday, October 5: Grades 3-4

Tuesday, October 13: Grades 5-8 and ECDEC/blended early childhood (junior high in hybrid model)

** We look forward to welcoming all of our in-person bilingual self-contained students back to our classrooms at the same time their grade level peers are scheduled to return.

An Update from the Health Office

Health, Immunization, and Eye Exams:

For the purpose of safeguarding the health of children, CCSD15 enforces Illinois student health requirements. These requirements consist of health, dental and eye exams and immunizations specific to grade and age. Health exams are required for students entering Preschool, Kindergarten, Sixth grade, and those who are new to the school. Click here for required health forms: Required Health Exams and Immunization Recording. ** All health forms are due by October 15, 2020 **

(According to Board of Education Policy 7:100, Health, Eye and Dental Examinations, Immunizations, and Exclusion of Students and Illinois School Code, students who do not provide proof of receiving the required immunization and/or exam are excluded from school on October 15. Students new to Illinois schools, who register midterm, are allowed 30 days following registration to comply with the health requirements.
