The News Flash
Florence Twp. School District -- 2020-21 -- #34
COVID-19 Update:
As you may be aware, Governor Murphy recently provided updates regarding the mask mandate throughout the state. However, please note that the language included in Executive Order 175 states that the mandate does not apply to schools: “The order notes that outdoor public spaces do not include child care centers, other child care facilities, youth summer camps, and public, private, and parochial preschool program premises, and elementary and secondary schools, including charter and renaissance schools. Current recommendations and requirements regarding masking in those settings will remain in effect.”
At this time, masks must still be worn at all times. Students may remove masks outdoors during recess, PE, or when their classes go outdoors if required due to heat/temperature. Students must still wear masks boarding/deboarding buses, on the bus, and entering/exiting school.
We will continue to monitor the mandates throughout the state, the CDC and NJDOH updates, and consult with the Burlington County Department of Health on the requirements for K-12 settings.

School Communications Update:
Effective Monday, May 24th, our district will be utilizing School Messenger as our new mode of communication. School Messenger will replace the Honeywell Alert system. This new alert system will automatically notify parents of issues that impact students' safety and academic performance, including parental outreach, emergency broadcasts, student attendance alerts, and more. This means of communication will help our FTSD families remain personally connected with timely communications. If you should have any questions about the new School Messenger system, please contact your building administrator.
To ensure accuracy with the new system, we will be doing a phone test with the new School Messenger system on Wednesday, May 19th at 5:00 pm and an email at 6:00 pm.
Road Closures - May 24th:
On Monday evening, May 24th, from 7:30 pm - 6:00 am, Florence Twp. will be performing emergency milling and paving on the Florence Columbus Intersection. The work is scheduled for Rte.130 Florence-Busselton Road and it will commence at the Wawa ramp and continue to Florence- Busselton Rd until 130NB. Please use caution and plan your route accordingly.
