School Lunch Hero Day!

We had such a great day with Jarrett J. Krosoczka on April 5! We are continuing the fun by celebrating a day he started on May 5! This year, we are honoring our cafeteria staff with School Lunch Hero Day! Be sure to create a special thank you for our wonderful cafeteria folks and why not highlight some Lunch Lady books that day too! Here are some links you can explore to get ready for the day!


2017 Blowfish Baseball Reading Program

Lexington County Blowfish Reading Rewards Program! May 1 - May 26!


All students are encouraged to read four books during the month of May - you may do this in the classroom and count read alouds and books you are reading together as a class or you can encourage students to read books at home with their family! Up to you! As students read, they can earn prizes:


  • One Book - one free general admission ticket to the June 5th Blowfish home game
  • Two Books - two free general admission tickets to the June 5th game
  • Three Books - two free general admission tickets to the June 5th game and participation in the Reading Program Parade during pregame activities
  • Four Books - two free general admission tickets to the June 5th game, participating in the parade, and a free Blowie Snowie Shaved Ice at the game!


A letter for parents and a reading log has been sent home!


Important details to remember!

  • The program runs from May 1 - May 26th
  • NPES Night with the Blowfish is June 5th - SAVE THE DATE! Mrs. Byrd Fort will be throwing out the first pitch...you don't want to miss it!

May BOOK FAIR!

Our May Book Fair is May 15 - 19! Teacher Preview will be on Friday, May 12, beginning right after school. We WILL be open for Leadership Day on May 19! I will show the Book Fair video to Kindergarten students when they come to the Learning Commons the week before Book Fair. All other grade levels will want to show the video to students before coming to Book Fair. I will email the link to the video the week of May 8! Also, a letter to parents and a Book Fair flyer will also be going home the week of May 8! Get ready to stock up on great reads for the summer!

About Us

The Vision and Mission of the New Providence Elementary School Learning Commons is to ensure that students and teachers are effective users of ideas and information in both print and digital resources. We strive to provide library materials and services appropriate to the curriculum of the school and to provide library materials and services that meet the information and recreational needs of the learning community and that will encourage and support the 4 C's - Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication. We provide opportunities for collaboration between the Learning Commons Team (Teacher Librarians, Library Assistant, Digital Learning Coach) and the Classroom Teacher to integrate information literacy, digital literacy, book love and technology into instruction.
