Preparedness for COVID-19 at OES
The safety and security of our students is paramount. Please read the important communication from Mrs. Collins, regarding the health and safety of our children and staff. One of the most effective means to prevent illness is hand washing. Please review this flyer from the CDC, on hand washing/hand sanitizer best practices. The School District of Lee County has a link to many useful resources on this topic.
Rally 2020
This year's Rally was a not only a fun filled fundraising event, but also a wonderful time for families and staff to experience an afternoon of being together and enjoying each other's company. Many volunteers contributed their time and talent. Additionally, members of the Foundation spent countless hours to create this successful day. We are so grateful for all the time, energy and effort put into this lovely event.
A HUGE thank you to PTO for providing funds for our new PE Equipment!

A Message from Mrs. Gamboa...
Read-a-Thon
The Oasis Library Read-a-Thon started last Monday and runs through March 6. A flyer with information about this fundraiser was sent in your child's folder. As your child builds their minutes and/or raises funds, they will receive additional prizes.
I want your student in Grades K-2 to earn a DRESS OUT OF UNIFORM COUPON to be used Friday, March 6. However, it requires them to register their Read-a-Thon page by March 4th. Your donations are appreciated, but we are looking for students to also record their reading minutes. As students raise funds, they can shop for prizes on the Read-a-Thon page. These prizes will be sent to our school after the Read-a-Thon ends to be distributed.
Students must register their Read-a-Thon page no later than Wednesday, March 4th, to receive this coupon. If you need your child's Read-a-Thon code, please email stating your child's name, and teacher. I will provide another copy with instructions.
Teachers will send the coupon home on March 5th, as a reminder for the child to dress out uniform on March 6.
Note: Students in grades 3-5 have a different dress out of uniform day- March 27th, due to a conflict with Field Day.
At the end: Each grade level's "Top Readers" most minutes and students with the most sponsorship as measured by the most money raised will get a $10 Scholastic Book Fair coupon to spend at the Scholastic BOGO in March.
SSYRA & SSYRA JR
Many students are reading to reach a milestone in the SSYRA Jr. (K-2) and SSYRA (3-5) Reading Program.
The deadline to read for a milestone is Monday, March 23, 2020 by 4:00 p.m. Note: They must have read at least 8 books to attend the Election Party and all 15 to earn a seat on the Battle of the Books along with earning 70% or higher on the AR Test.
For the 3-5 SSYRA books, we will continue to give out the dog tags through May 15, or until our supply is depleted.
Please make sure if your child is reading to reach a milestone of 3, 8, 12, or 15, that they advise their classroom teacher allowing their reading log card to be updated.
Thank you for encouraging your child to reach for the highest summit of READING!
AR FUN DAY
Please review the AR Fun Day letter, from October, to remind your child of the criteria to earn this super fun day. Please note: The third quarter deadline is approaching. The last day of the quarter is March 12th.
E-Book Collection
Our E book collection contains most of the 2019-2020 SSYRA books along with a few audio books.
You will have 14 days to read, but if you finish early simply go into the account and click RETURN. This will free the copy for someone else and allow your child to check out another ebook.

Rainbow Reading
The K-2 Rainbow Reading Program is in full swing now. All students received the red reading log at the beginning of the school year. As you and your child read the books listed on the sheet and it is returned during their library visit, they will spin for a prize and receive the next colored log.
The goal is for students to read through the colors of a rainbow and reach "PURPLE". Then they will join us during our Purple People Party in May. During this party, students will wear purple, and eat purple foods, play games, and enjoy time with other readers. The last day to turn in a Rainbow sheet is May 1st.
If you need another red sheet, please send an email and include the student and his or her teacher's name to the request. Rhonda.Gamboa@CapeCharterSchools.org This is a fun time for your child to explore books in varying genres from your home and public library. Also, they can search for books in the school library during their Specials visit.
Thank you for supporting your child's education.

Fortify App
The app, which is available for download on Apple and Android mobile devices, is critical to ensuring all Florida schools are safe environments where students and educators can experience and share the joy of learning without fear. FortifyFL is a suspicious activity reporting tool that allows you to instantly relay information to appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials.
The Florida Legislature directed this tool’s development in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. For more information visit: https://getfortifyfl.com/
