Gladstone School Newsletter - Week 2 Term 4, 2021. 29/10/21
Te Karere a te Tumuaki (Principal's Message)
Kia ora tātou katoa (Hi/greetings/hello everybody).
We hope you have had a productive short week. There are 2 pieces of 'big' news to share this week. The first is the launch of our visual branding update. We would like to acknowledge the hours of work our design team have put into this (Year 8's, Becks Tosswill & John Strang). They have worked with our strategic plan and vision statement to develop something that ties it all together and retains aspects of our traditional branding. We invite you to watch the promotional video linked below.
The second is the announcement that Chelsea Douglas has been appointed as the team leader in Ruamahanga. She is also taking on the Literacy Lead Teacher role. We are delighted to have Chelsea stepping into these positions.
We are currently piecing together our staffing plan for 2022 and hope to share this with you as soon as positions are confirmed.
It is looking increasingly unlikely that our production will be able to proceed with live audiences. We are now planning to film the production and share it with you all in that way.
Noho ora mai (stay well, look after yourself),
Belinda Bunny

Face Masks on Bus Transport - Message from Tranzit
The new health order has now come into effect, face coverings for those aged 12 and over are now mandated on school bus services including MOE daily school bus services, SESTA services, school charters and school tech runs.
What does this mean?
- Our drivers will now be required to wear face coverings unless they have an exemption.
- Following guidance from MOE, our drivers are not responsible for enforcing face coverings on school services.
- Face coverings are the responsibility of individuals and caregivers to supply. Our drivers will not have stock.
Given the above, please be reassured that no student will be left behind or denied carriage if they do not have a face covering.
If any of our drivers have a concern about compliance, they will discuss this with our operations team who will then be in touch with the school if required.

Christmas Float Co-ordination & Gladstone Church Christmas Choir
The Gladstone Church is 'watching this space' with regards to having the annual Christmas service and choir. In the meantime, we will be inviting students to be part of this group should they wish to. Please have a talk to your children to see if this is something they are interested in doing. The service is scheduled for Sunday the 19th of December.

If you are unable to sell the tickets, please return them to the School ASAP.
Scarecrow Auction Items and Prizes
An online auction is currently being set up to open on Saturday the 13th of November. If you know anyone that would like to contribute an auction item or scarecrow prize, please contact Ang Falloon on 0292008196. We need to know about auction items by the 1st of November.
Trunk or Treat and Level 2
The Gladstone Project and the Church committee are aiming to go ahead with the Trunk or Treat event within the Level 2 guidelines. We all had a great time last year, and don’t want the kiddos to miss out, but equally we don’t want to risk a spreader event if Covid happens to be present in our community; so if you are planning on coming please remember the following:
- There will be QR codes at the gates - please scan in
- Please stay home if you’re feeling unwell
- We will have someone on the gate counting people in and out, so if we do reach 100 people at the event please be patient, as you’ll be asked to wait until someone leaves.
