RHS Counselor Connection
Virtual Learning Newsletter- updated 5/13/2020
This will be the place for updates from the RHS Counseling Department. Check back regularly!
Important Updates:
Newest updates are moved to the top and placed in Bold print.
Dual Enrollment:
Fall 2020 term:
- Students who have previously taken Dual Enrollment classes just need to contact Mrs. Welch directly to register for the classes they wish to take in the Fall.
- All new to Dual Enrollment students: St. Johns River State College will be scheduling students to who meet all other qualifications for Dual Enrollment to take the PERT remotely using their testing system. There will be a $20 charge for the testing. You must have your DE Info Sheet (CLICK HERE) and your Consent form submitted to your School Counselor by May 29th to take any Dual Enrollment classes in the Fall. St. Johns River State College will then contact you directly to arrange for testing if needed.
Summer School 2020:
Summer school will be held virtually this year. As we get closer to the end of the school year, you will receive notification from your school counselor if you need to attend summer school for recovery purposes.
If you wish to take a virtual class this summer (for original credit and not for recovery), you can still do so through Clay Virtual Academy. CLICK HERE for the new directions for requesting a class. If you have questions about the class to request, contact your school counselor.
Transcripts:
If you need to have a transcript sent to a college, university, or scholarship, please email Ms. Flatley at kelly.flatley@myoneclay.net. She handles all transcript requests.
Final Transcripts- Seniors please be aware that we cannot send final transcripts until after all final grades are processed. They are typically ready to send out by mid-June.
We understand that colleges and universities are now sending out notifications that they need your final transcripts. They are fully aware that they are not available until June. This is a typical practice each year and will not cause any delay in your registration process at the college/university. Please check your college/university system to make sure all other orientation, registration, housing and financial aid steps are complete. Soon, you will receive a Senior Exit Form to complete. On that form you will notify us of where you want your final transcript sent. You do not need to send us an email or request your final transcript at this time.
CVA/FLVS Classes:
If you were already enrolled in a CVA or FLVS course, you are still required to finish that course and to maintain your set pacing requirements. If you are having difficulty with your coursework through either of these platforms please reach out to your assigned virtual teacher for options. All virtual coursework for seniors must be completed by May 8th. All other students have until May 22nd to complete CVA or FLVS courses.

Credit Recovery Classes:
If you were assigned to recover classes using the Edgenuity platform (same one linked in your OneClay Portal), be sure that you continue working on that course(s). If you are having difficulty with these recovery courses, please contact your assigned lab teacher (Slemmons, Knauss, Gilbert, or Jackson). You are still responsible for completing the courses that your School Counselor indicated you need. All credit recovery courses need to be completed by May 29th. Any course not completed by that date will likely be cleared from the system and will be restarted through summer school.

SAT & ACT Testing Dates:
All 2019-2020 SAT testing dates have now been cancelled. Please CLICK HERE for information from CollegeBoard on plans to help students register for Fall testing dates and plans for helping students who were registered to test this semester.
At this time ACT is still planning to offer their June 13th and July 18th testing dates. Please CLICK HERE for the ACT website to check for updates as they are posted.
Bright Futures:
At this time eligibility requirements for Bright Futures remain the same including test scores and community service hour requirements. If we are notified of any changes we will let you know. If you have documentation of qualifying service hours that you need to submit, please take a photo of that documentation and email it to your school counselor.
Any senior who is on track to meet eligibility requirements (CLICK HERE to view the requirements) and did not complete the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) when we rotated through the senior English classes in January, needs to complete the application as soon as possible. If you have questions about the application or want to verify that you have completed the application, contact your school counselor.
20-21 Course Selection:
At this time, course requests for the 20-21 school year have already been submitted. If you have questions about your course requests, please contact your School Counselor.
State Testing:
All End of Course exams (EOCs) and Florida State Assessments (FSAs) have been cancelled for the remainder of the school year. Your EOC class grades will be finalized using just your 4 quarterly grades. We do not have any other information at this time about when these assessments will be given. Current seniors will be exempted from meeting the assessment requirements for their diploma; however, all other students will still have to meet these requirements moving forward. As we get more information, we will pass that along.
