Britannica Webinar - Differentiated Instruction

One of our Iowa AEA Online Resources is Britannica School. One of the features of this database is the ability to do a single search for a topic while having the option to select appropriate reading levels for the student. Britannica is hosting a webinar next week. If you are interested, here are the details I received from Britannica:

This free, one-hour webinar covers ways to reach all learners using Britannica School. Learn how to address the many different needs of your students while providing them with rich valuable content. We will explore varying levels of text complexity, multi-media resources, reading and vocabulary support tools, and more. This webinar will provide practical strategies for the implementation of Differentiated Instruction in your classroom or library.

Your Library Vs. the Internet

Most libraries today seem to be in competition with the Internet. Students, teachers and sometimes administrators sometimes don't see the need for library resources because they feel they have access to all the information they need on the Internet. Gale has created a poster/infographic that addresses why library resources have an edge or advantage compared to the information found on the Web. You can have this poster printed with your local library information using the marketing tools provided for us by Gale. You can find out how to do this by clicking on the Educator's link found on the Iowa AEA Online page. Choose the Promotional Materials tab and then select Marketing. If you have questions, please let me know.

Available Resources from Northwest AEA

I am going to be sharing Northwest AEA Media Resources with new teachers and their mentors in the next few weeks. To prepare for this, I have created a PowerPoint. If you would like to use and edit my PowerPoint to share with your teachers and students, feel free. I've saved a copy in Google Drive. Access it here. You can find the video clip in YouTube by searching for Databases vs. Google.
