Sage Creek News

September 2023

Thank you for a GREAT start to the year!

These first few weeks of school have been so much fun. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming. Thank you for making it great and for sharing your sweet kids with us! My favorite thing so far was to see how excited all of the kids (and parents;) ) were to come to school on the first day. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such positivity in this great community. If you haven't heard about our "Caught being kind tickets" yet, be sure to ask your child. This quarter our focus attriubute is KINDNESS.

By way of information, we have one spot available on our School Community Council, please email chelsea.wilson@nebo.edu by September 8th if you'd like to join. If we have multiple parents that want this position an election will be held.

Enjoy this month's newsletter, it is packed with a lot of information!

Mrs. Angela Youd

Counselor's Corner

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am excited to welcome you and your child to a new school year! My name is Lindsey Harris and I am the school counselor at Sage Creek. My job is to provide a supportive and safe environment for all students to thrive. I am here to offer guidance and resources to help your child overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

Throughout the year, I offer help in various ways, including classroom guidance lessons, group counseling sessions, and individual counseling sessions. I have created a short survey to help me better understand your student’s needs. As an added incentive, all those who complete the survey will be entered into a raffle to receive some Sage Creek swag! Information received will remain confidential and help me tailor my lessons appropriately - I appreciate your help!

I am also available to meet with you as needed to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about your individual child's progress or well-being. I believe that communication is key to building a strong partnership between home and school, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Harris

Drop off and Pick Up: A Few Reminders

Pull as far south as you can before stopping. This helps us to not get backed up around the block too bad.

Be mindful of the bus lane....don't block the bus entrance or exit. It sneaks up on you quick so pay attention to how traffic is moving ahead of you.

Make sure your child(ren) are crossing at the cross walk. Even if you don't see any cars coming, we want our kids to get used to good habits.

Be alert and aware so we can keep all of our kiddos safe.

Thank you!

Watches and Cell Phones

Last week a cell phone policy disclosure document was sent home. I hope you have taken the time to go through this with your child. If you missed the document, see below. This is not a new thing, but more of bringing awareness to policy that has been in place. Students with medical conditions that require their phone near are always allowed to have that access. Other than that, phones and calling watches are welcome before and after school hours. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

Hats

Hats in school are against district policy for elementary schools. Hats on special occasions and inclement weather are permitted.

Bikes and Scooters

Students should be walking thier bikes and scooters once they get on school grounds. This is to keep everyone safe. Bikes and scooters also need to be parked in the approriate location, which is near the North playground.

Hearing Screenings

Nebo School District offers free hearing screenings for all kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students each year. This year, these screenings will be held at Sage Creek the morning of Tuesday, September 5th. If for any reason you would prefer your child’s hearing NOT be screened, please contact LeAnn Betts by calling the office or by emailing leann.betts@nebo.edu.
