Hecate
Hecate
Hecate is goddess of magic and spells. Her father and mother was Perses and asteria. Relatives Perses (father), Asteria (mother), Leto (maternal aunt), Apollo, Artemis (cousins), Crius, Coeus (grandfathers), Eurybia, Phoebe (grandmothers), Scylla (daughter Phorcys), Zagreus (son, deceased). Two metamorphosis myths describe the origins of her animal familiars: the black she-dog and the polecat (a mustelid house pet kept to hunt vermin). Zeus shared with Hecate, and only her, the awesome power of giving humanity anything she wished (or withholding it if she pleased).
