Reading Instruction Benton CSD elementary centers use Benchmark Literacy as a curriculum resource to instruct on core standards. On average, 82% of students at BC elementary centers are proficient in foundational reading skills. The state goal is 80% and the state average is 71% of students are proficient. | Future Ready Bobcats Fair Benton Community Middle School & High School students and families were invited to a Future Ready Bobcats Fair. Organizations such as ACT, Tanager, Benton Scholarship Foundation, and more attended and provided information. | Baseball State Qualifiers The BC baseball and softball teams were the first to experience sports with COVID considerations. The Benton baseball team earned their place at the state tournament this year! |

Future Ready Bobcats Fair
Homecoming Blue & Gold Homecoming is a BIG celebration at Benton Community. Elementary students also participate in a variety of ways. You can expect to see a sea of blue and gold most Fridays in Bobcat Country. | First Day Fun Students in Ms. Hillyer's science class learn the processes and expectations for working in the lab while making slime. | World Music Drumming Students at Norway Intermediate incorporated what they had learned around World Music Drumming in their annual performance in November. These drums were awarded to the district through a grant awarded by Cargill, Benton County Community Foundation, and BCPTO. |

First Day Fun
Cells & Organelles 6th grade students at Norway Intermediate used a variety of methods to demonstrate their understanding of cells and organelles in Mrs. Eckle's classroom. | Benton Community Awards Ceremony Thousands of dollars are distributed to seniors at the annual Benton Community Awards Ceremony held in the month of May each year. This year's celebration had to look different due to the closure. Students were celebrated through a variety of videos and posts. | Learning with Tech Students at Keystone Elementary work with new Chromebooks. Instruction on use of the device along with how it can be used to enhance the learning experience was provided by Mrs. Ziegenhorn in this picture. |

Benton Community Awards Ceremony
Sharing Learning with a New Audience First graders at Keystone Elementary held a museum experience for their families. They were able to share what they learned and show their artifacts depicting their learning around Presidents Washington and Lincoln. They also were able to connect live with museum curators at the home of George Washington, Mount Vernon. | Activities Addition: Bowling BC gained a bowling team this year! This additional extra-curricular activity started as a club sport for the 19-20 school year and will be a sanctioned sport for the 20-21 school year. | Marching Bobcats There are multiple times throughout the year that you may find the Marching Bobcats sharing the school fight song through the hallways of the MS/HS. |

BCTLT Benton Community Teacher Leadership Team is starting its seventh year of supporting teaching and learning at BC. | Community Leaders Meetings Benton Community hosted a variety of meetings throughout the year focused on the school and community partnerships. BC administration, board members, and community leaders such as mayors attending these collaborative conversations. | Learning for Leaders Leaders at BC are constantly learning. Grant Wood AEA supports learning for teachers and students at Benton Community. In this picture, you can see teacher leaders and administrators learning about openly licensed resources from GWAEA consultants. |

COVID & Derecho - Challenges Turning Into Opportunities
Benton Cattlemen's Association ContributionThe Benton County Cattlemen's Association collaborated with the BC Food Service Department and Fareway to provide lunches to BC students during the closure. | Virtual Parade BC staff created a video as a virtual parade to share messages with students and families. | Virtual Connection Staff, students, and families learned a great deal about connecting virtually during the COVID school closure. Staff worked to implement the BC Virtual Continuous Learning Plan. |

Bobcats Helping Bobcats BC staff gathered to help a fellow staff member clean up her farm. The derecho that struck on August 10, 2020, caused damage to buildings and grounds throughout the district. | Servant Leaders BC staff provided lunch to those working to clean up communities, including those working to restore power. | Teamwork and Tree-work The BC football team was one of many groups that gathered to help members of communities clean up after the derecho. |
