Kindergarten Parade

Kindergarten will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Thursday, February 4th! Immediately following morning announcements we will have a quick parade. If you are able, please come to the front half of the school to cheer them on!

Valentine's Day

Survey results are in! The majority of teachers have requested a Valentine card exchange and time for students to visit. Several others prefer to add a treat of some kind. Let's agree to allow students 30 minutes to exchange cards and socialize. If you are interested in a refreshment, you could provide it as your Valentine to students. Let me know if you have questions!

Allen Eagle Run

Register online at: www.alleneaglerun.org by this Friday! The sleep-in option supports our school, gets you a red t-shirt, and doesn't require getting out of your jammies! :)

Staff Spotlight - Whitney Benton

Staff Spotlight

Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in a small town outside of Midland/Odessa--Andrews, TX.

Describe your family. My parents are both retired and still live in West Texas. My mom taught thirty years and my dad was the county judge. I have one brother that lives in Allen and is my favorite pharmacist. I’m married to a mortician/funeral director. By now you have probably picked up on the exciting bunch we are! :) When meeting new couples we try to steer clear from the topic of occupations. This doesn’t make us sound nearly as fun as we think we are.

What university did you attend? Texas A&M for undergraduate and UNT for graduate work.

What is a favorite activity you do? I certainly do not do enough of this, but I do love it when we stop and make time for the things that matter. During the last two Christmas seasons, my kids and I have made flannel blankets to deliver to the local nursing home. If you know my Davis this doesn’t come easy. We deliver blankets and sit with the residents.

If you had $1000 to spend on anything, what would you spend it on? I would spend it on my children’s education. The cost of college keeps me up at night.

What is your favorite reality TV show? Shark Tank

If you were not a teacher, what would you be? I would be a nurse with someone else's gag reflex and a steady stomach.

Happy birthday this week to Kathy Blahitka and Julie O'Brien!
