Reading Month Continues...............

We have just under one week remaining in our Reading Month challenge! The children still have a little ways to go to reach the reading challenge! A good rainy Saturday is a great time to catch up on your reading! They need to reach the goal of 93,000 to have the human ice cream sundaes happen! Get reading and bring your reading logs to school for the minutes to be recorded. All forms are due by 4/17. Our human ice cream sundaes are scheduled for Thursday, April 18th at 2:00. Be a top reader, and you will be able to add toppings to the human sundaes!

Spring parties / Egg hunts

All students will participate in egg hunts and parties next Thursday, April 18th. Please sign up for a food item for the party and send your child with 12 filled plastic eggs. Please make sure that any candy items in the eggs are individually wrapped and do not contain nuts, and please tape each egg closed. The specific time of the hunt is noted on your child's classroom door with the party sign up sheet.

Ribbon Cutting

As we have renewed our membership with the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce, they will be hosting a ribbon cutting for us on Tuesday, April 30th at 10:00 a.m. We would love to have any of our families join us for this event! We asked that all of our preschool students come dressed in Merryhill colors that day - blue and yellow. All elementary students will wear normal uniforms.

We will host a light brunch for any guests that are here, immediately following the ribbon cutting. Thank you for supporting our school.

Teddy Bear Donations

We are supporting the teddy bear donation drive for Cooks Children's Medical Center over the next two weeks. There is a collection area in each office. These must be new teddy bears and need to be 7-18" in size. If you have any other critters that are new in those same size parameters, they will accept those and use them in the emergency room. All bears must be here by April 26th. Our 4th-6th grade students will deliver them to the hospital. Thank you for helping us to give back to children as they experience a scary time at the hospital.

ERB Standardized Testing

Over the next two weeks, all elementary students (Kindergarten and older) will participate in the ERB standardized testing. We only ask our students to be at school on time, get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast, and make their best decisions during the testing. Please note the appropriate dates in order to ensure that your child does not have any conflicting appointments scheduled. Testing will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. each day.

April 15-17: Kindergarten and 1st Grade testing

April 22-25: 2nd-6th Grade testing

We will ask any Pre-Kindergarten students arriving after 8:15 on testing days to enter the preschool, where they will remain until after each day's testing session is over. Any elementary students arriving late will be kept in the office until the testing session is complete. It is critical that we keep our hallways completely quiet during the testing.

Referral Program

You are our best referrals to have new families join our Merryhill family, and we truly appreciate you sharing your experiences and our school with your families, friends, and co-workers!

As a reminder, when you refer a family, you earn a free week of tuition for one child after the new student has been enrolled for 3 months!! In addition, we will be doing a raffle drawing from all of our family referrals between March 15th and April 15th for great Merryhill gear and prizes, as well as a $50 Chili's gift card! We will announce our winner on April 15th!

Early Dismisasal / Parent Conferences

Our elementary students will have early dismissal at 11:00 on Friday, April 26th as we hold parent conferences. Our parent conferences will continue the week of April 29th. If you have already requested a conference time, you should hear from your child's teacher with the scheduled time by Monday. If your child will be staying after the early dismissal time, please sign up on the classroom door.

Ronald McDonald House Pop Tab Drive

Our 1st grade students are collecting pop tabs for the drive through Ronald McDonald House. Please save the tabs off of the tops of your cans and put them in your classroom's collection box. Thank you for supporting the Ronald McDonald House.

Earth Day

All students will participate in various Earth Day activities on Monday, April 22nd. All preschool students will do a ladybug release at 10:00 that day; please send your child to school wearing red and / or black for this fun event. We will be releasing 5000 ladybugs!!

Proper Attire

Please be reminded that all students need proper footwear for recess and P.E. classes. All students must wear closed toe shoes for those activities.
