Virtual Donovan Digest

Greetings
COMMUNICATIONS
In an effort to reduce the amount of information and clogging inboxes, we are asking to limit the number of communications to “ldsstaff” when possible. Please refrain from sending something whole school unless absolutely necessary. If you have an amazing resource or something to share, only email Jenn. I will be including all information in a weekly Donovan Digest (or 2 if more information is needed to share). Hopefully this will streamline all information and communication. Of course, if there is a need to share pertinent information sooner (or birthdays or dance party links..lolol) we will reach out.
Family & Feedback Friday
DANCE PARTIES
Our students love the dance parties but we know this is just another thing on your plate. Cathleen and I now have Zoom licenses that allow us to host up to 300 people each
We will send out a K-2 link and a 3-5 link and we will be coordinating the Dance parties on Fridays at 9am.

Lifting Spirits
2. It seems that more than anything, our kids miss us and we do miss them. We are putting out a video of "Working 9-5" with all of us in our home setting. We will be sharing this with all of our families so please try and get a picture of yourself to Danielle ASAP. Hopefully after break we can coordinate something even more cheery and creative for our school community.
Talent Show
Students MIA
Do not make yourself crazy hunting every child and every assignment down, every day. We have been seeing the personal emails going out and they are perfect. There weekly "summary checklists" of what the students are missing (more about Google Guardian in the next section) Some of you have been making calls as well for an extra personal connection. We will continue to make calls on our end and if you need assistance, please please please ask.
Teaching assistants are assigned grade levels to check in with each teacher to see if there are students still MIA and will keep notes in the weekly document that is sent out. Please connect with your assigned teaching assistant to keep them informed of some of the students who seem to be at most risk and need additional calls.
Kindergarten- Wendy & Beth
1st Grade Sharon& Alice
2nd Grade Ronda
3rd Grade Marcie
4th Grade Teresa
5th Grade Renee
Each teaching assistant will connect weekly with students at your assigned grade level who are MIA to see what the conflict is and how we can help. We have already seen teaching assistants mailing students directly to check in and connect. We LOVE this!!
They will then jot notes in the MIA communication log sent out each Monday (along with any teacher input).
ZOOM
1. Revisit Ray Nesci's email about the most important privacy settings to put in place prior to hosting your ZOOM. Danielle also put out a great tutorial video last week to help!
2. FERPA- if you are Tweeting/Posting pics of your Zooms- make sure your students' full names are blacked out.
Nothing can stop us...
Tools to Try...
Check in with Danielle if you want any support with any of these tools!
1. When posting a teacher made recording or video in Google Classroom, try making it an "assignment." After viewing, students will "turn it in' showing that they have watched the video.
2. Are you interested in making your video more interactive or reinforce accountability? Try using Ed Puzzle and seeing how many students are viewing your videos. Add the extension and login using your Gmail account. EdPuzzle works well with Google Classroom!
3. Add text boxes on top of a picture, so students can comment right on the paper. Watch the video below to learn how...
Bits and Pieces of info
1. The curriculum team is working to adjust pacing maps. Math meetings will be taking place early next week with specific guidance about which unit to teach beginning April 20th. Please keep an eye out!
3. Check the Continuous Home Learning Folder on the ABCs of LDS for daily events, supports, and PDs.
