Monday Morning Memo - Week 13
11/25/18 Welcome Back!
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Welcome back! I hope you all had a tremendous time with your loves ones over the Thanksgiving Break. My family and I gathered at my parents house this year and hosted a group of 20. My mom and I typically share cooking responsibilities on Thanksgiving but she decided to hand those off to my siblings and I. Thankfully, we didn't burn down the house and the food was delightful. More importantly, it gave me time to hang out with two of my three sisters while they were in town for the holidays. I hope you all were able to build some memories that you'll cherish as well.
Cathy Dean
Please join me in welcoming Cathy Dean as our new building sub. She will pick up where Victoria left off with the same reading groups/schedule. I know Cathy is a highly sought after sub in the building which presents a problem for those that have requested her for future assignments. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes, but unfortunately we'll need to work on other arrangements for those absences. Thanks for your flexibility and understanding!
Dr. Niehaus
Dr. Niehaus will be visiting the Poupard staff on Tuesday during our Vertical Team Meeting. He enjoys getting an opportunity to visit different buildings throughout the year. Last year, I was proud of our staff opening up and sharing some concerns that we had. Tuesday will provide us another opportunity to hear about the direction of the district, ask questions, raise concerns and show gratitude. Feel free to send me any questions, comments, or concerns if you're unable to be present on Tuesday from 3:55-4:55.
Chicken and Waffles Holiday Breakfast
The PTO is hosting their annual Holiday Breakfast on Saturday, December 15th. Please send this blurb home to families in your weekly communications:

November Student Birthdays
Nuts and Bolts - Updated 11/25/18
Title 1
The SIT is working on putting together some options of how we'll allocate additional funds we receive annually each December. Please work with either a SIT member or grade level partner to communicate items that you believe would best serve our students needs. Our goal is to have final determinations made by December 4th.
Safety Service Rotation: You may view the safety squad duties for the months of November and December here.
Magnet Nominations
Child Study search for magnet students has begun with parent notifications. Parents with students in grades 1st-4th are encouraged to nominated their child for formal clustering in math, ELA or both or for magnet fall 18-19.
*Parent nominations will be accepted through December 12th.
*Teachers nominations begin in January and will be accepted through February 6th, 2019.
Teachers, let me know if you have students that you believe would make great candidates for the magnet program.
- Please continue to send any PTO Ambassador forms to the office.
- Please share your weekly newsletters with me by "Ccing" me when they are emailed out to families. This allows for me to stay connected with all of the exciting things happening inside of your classrooms.
- Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
