Mrs. Foley's Counselor Corner
September, 2021
Dear Suamico Elementary Parents/Guardians,
Welcome Back!! I am very excited to start my 5th year here at Suamico Elementary and want to take a moment to introduce myself to you and your family and provide information about the School Counseling Program at Suamico Elementary.
My name is Alexis (Ali) Foley and I grew up in Suamico (Flintville to be precise) and I am very proud to state that I attended Suamico Elementary and graduated from Bay Port High School in 1998. I grew up on a farm, moved to Howard for a bit and after graduating high school attended UW-Stout for my undergraduate degree and UW-Milwaukee for my graduate degree. Prior to working at Suamico Elementary I worked in the community sector as a Crisis Counselor for Family Services of NEW and at Bellin Health as a Behavior Modification Specialist. I also worked as a School Counselor in Luxemburg-Casco, but was happy to return home when hired at Suamico Elementary. My husband, Ryan and I have two girls. Amelia is 6 and will be attending Suamico Elementary as a Kindergartener this year and Mabel is 4 and will be attending Shepherd's Kids Preschool this year. We enjoy all things outdoors, especially camping, swimming, and boating. I truly LOVE to connect with people and would like to hear more about YOU so please call or email anytime so I can get to know your family more as your child(ren) grow here at Suamico Elementary!

Life Skills Class
I get to visit every class, K-4 to teach Life Skills class throughout the school year on an "A week", "B week" rotation. Thus, your child(ren) will have Life Skills class twice/month. This year I am very excited to have an evidence and research-based curriculum called "Second Step" that I will be using to guide our conversations. The 4 units cover the topics of Skills for Learning, Empathy, Emotion Management, and Problems Solving. See below for more grade level information on Scope/Sequence of this Social/Emotional curriculum.

Video Read Aloud's with Mrs. Foley
The Howard-Suamico School District has chosen to implement a Social/Emotional Curriculum in all grades K-8 called the Leader In Me. During the 2020-21 school year I recorded read alouds from the book, "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids" for our students and families to learn about the 7 Habits while we were virtual. I'll keep these video read alouds here for future reference. Enjoy ;)
