Mountain View Student Named Distinguished Young Woman of Boise Valley
This past spring, McKenna Bryant of Mountain View High School was named the Distinguished Young Woman of Boise Valley 2022 and awarded $4,600 in cash scholarships.
Bryant was one of 17 high school junior girls from the Boise Valley who competed to represent the program as the Distinguished Young Woman of Boise Valley for the class of 2022. Participants were evaluated in the categories of scholastics, interview, talent, fitness and self-expression.
Throughout the next year, Bryant will represent the valley at various public events and serve as a role model to young people by spreading the program’s national outreach message of “Be Your Best Self.”
McKenna competes in the state competition this October.
Free Summer Meal Program Kick Off
Last week our West Ada School Nutrition Services team kicked off the free summer meals program. Ada County Paramedics joined us for the fun too, passing out goodies and visiting with attendees. Photos are courtesy of Ada County Paramedics .

Summer Learning Tips from Classified Employees and Teachers of the Year
Check out our series of summer learning tips from our Classified Employees and Teachers of the Year on social media throughout the next couple of months. Look below for a sampling of these great ideas too!
Anne Wilson, second grade teacher at Pleasant View Elementary School, wants students to be curious and try new things this summer. "Read a book on a subject you know nothing about or count how many times you use math concepts in a day. Go exploring, visit a library, have family discussions. These are all ways to be curious!”
Carolyn Peters, physical education and health teacher at Eagle Elementary School, asks students to experience the outdoors and discover healthy foods they enjoy. “Find new places to experience, try new foods and restaurants. Let each member of the family decide for the whole day which foods and activities they want everyone to try.”
