February 2019
Happy 2019!
Welcome to 2019! As we begin gearing up the assessment season, please keep in mind that for acceleration in language learning, students need multiple repetitions each day in all four language domains: writing, reading, speaking, and listening. If you would like to work alongside a coach to support lesson design in all four language domains, please reach out to a World Languages Coach!
LPAC
Assessment LPACs will be held on each campus during the month of February. LPAC team leaders and administrators will receive training to guide you through this process on January 28. Please remember (as much as is appropriate) to maximize the support through allowed accommodations. Our goal is for every student to have every possible tool necessary to be successful on any assessment.
TELPAS
TELPAS Season is upon us! Please reach out to a World Languages coach if you'd like someone to work alongside you as you prepare for the calibration assessment and then the follow up ratings. They are always willing to help!
Dual Language
Dual language teachers engaged in their third and final PLC of the year and are ready to finish strong. They've worked on the L2 report cards, brainstormed new ideas to support learners in small groups, explored all of the STAAR designated supports available to language learners, learned some new math games in Spanish, and much more!
LOTE
The LOTE team is continuing their work in curriculum revision throughout this semester. They are focused on the consistent use of the target language throughout all of the levels, and seeking ways to increase their enrollment numbers.
Interested in ESL Certification?
World Languages coaches will support any teacher seeking to add the ESL Supplemental Certification. The test will be changing September 2019, so now is the time! Ask your Learning Liaison to submit a coaching ticket so that we can connect with you!
