News From Mr Vogler - New Principal of LVMS
Dear Lago Vista Middle School Parents:
Given the multitude of end-of-year activities, events, tests, and reporting that keep academic institutions busy, you may have not noticed that I have begun working as the principal of Lago Vista Middle School. It was not my intention to disrupt STAAR testing, reviews, or other pertinent operating systems at LVMS, so I was a little quiet about my first days by design. Rest assured however, that LVMS hasn’t missed a beat thanks in large part to the continued efforts of the entire staff at LVMS, and the leadership of Carlton Tucker and Jayme Spexarth. I have been incredibly blessed to watch them in action and illustrate the governance of LVMS, and I can therefore transition much smoother with all that is going on at the end of a year.
The bio that the district released upon announcing my hire offers insight into my career to date, so I won’t spend time in this letter offering my credentials. Rather, I simply want to express what a privilege it is to get to work with your kids and this staff as a part of Lago Vista ISD. In the two weeks I’ve been present on campus I’ve observed strong instruction in classrooms, students applying the strategies they’ve learned throughout the year on their exams, students collaborating with one another to solve complex problems, teachers collaborating with each other to optimize student learning, and parents lending support to the school with their efforts to reinforce teachers and advocate for their respective children. It’s impressive. Outsiders looking in may think we can’t get any better.
We can.
What has stood out the most over the last two weeks is the potential that we have yet to realize. It will be my goal over the remaining school days for this academic year and over the course of the summer, to build upon and communicate to staff and stakeholders the strong systems we will engage as a means to improve the academic and social-emotional culture at Lago Vista Middle School. And I’ll need your help.
I look forward to meeting you, picking your respective brains when we offer Coffee with the Principal, engaging in conversation at back to school night and content nights, and taking advantage of any time we might share to discuss how we will best serve our students. Again, it is my pleasure to serve here at Lago Vista Middle School and I look forward to the amazing experiences we will share.
Respectfully,
Davin H. Vogler
Principal, Lago Vista Middle School
LVMS Final Exam Schedule
Classroom Distractions
The teachers are concerned about the class disruption associated with "spinners", cubes and putty/slime. Students are preparing for the STAAR, to be followed shortly by final exams. The kids need to be focused. Thanks for having your child keep all spinners, cubes and putty/slime at home.
I would also ask you to remind your children that cell phones should be placed in back packs once the school day begins. The cell phone should not be accessed during the day without teacher/adult permission.
Again, thanks for your support as we focus on learning this last 20 plus days.

This will be our first legitimate district tournament competing against schools in our district that also have MS golf teams, Comfort and Ingram. In Pre-AP Biology we will use scientific notebooks to mimic the research methods that scientists use in the field. Some of the items are objects to be photographed; some will need to be researched and written up. Be sure you can answer questions about your collection if asked to explain your findings. All items need to be placed in a composition notebook. Be sure each item is clearly labeled and numbered in the top left of the page according to the assignment numbers. Only one item per page! You can use printed images or draw the images yourself according to the assignment as needed. Be sure to cite the source when noted!
