Whiteley Wildcat Update
January 20, 2020
I hope you have enjoyed your weekend with your families! We are looking forward to a great week. Tomorrow, Tuesday, our teachers will be participating in an institute day. The district has done a great job providing targeted professional development for the different staff members. We will greet our students back on Wednesday
5 Essentials Survey
We are still encouraging our parents to complete the 5 Essentials Survey. This survey allows us to collaborate with our families and provides an opportunity for parents to provide feedback. This survey is extremely important as it becomes part of our school report card that is issued by the state. If you haven’t completed the survey, please take a moment to take the 5 Essentials survey. You can access the survey at https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/. Thank you for taking time to complete the survey.
Valentine’s Day Parties
Our PTA will be overseeing our parties on Valentine’s Day. We are so fortunate to have parents able to provide wonderful parties for our students. As a reminder, with our district’s food and wellness party there will be no food provided at these parties. Students will not be allowed to pass out any candy at the party or to be sent home. If you wish information in regards to the district’s Health & Wellness Policy you can access the information on the website through this link.
American Heart Association Fundraiser
Help Whiteley earn $500 to purchase recess equipment for the remainder of the school year! If we have over half of our students register online and pledge to take a heart-healthy challenge during our American Heart Association fundraiser, they will provide our school with $500 to spend on recess equipment to help keep our kids active. It costs nothing to register and will only take a few minutes of your time. Your student will also get a free bracelet! Just go to the following link:

Thanks so much for helping us out!
Congratulations to Mr. Armamentos’ Class
Mr. Armamentos’ class took 3rd place in the national Fall 2019 Vocabulary competition.
Each year, over 150,000 students in grades 3-8 from schools across the country participate in the WordMasters Challenge. Unlike other language arts competitions for this age group – which focus on grammar, punctuation, spelling and other language mechanics – the WordMasters Challenge™ helps students to think both analytically and metaphorically. The contest addresses higher-level work comprehension and verbal reasoning.
Congratulations to Mr. Armamentos' entire class for their hard work and dedication!
