Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of March 6, 2022
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Greetings:
What an up and down week with our weather! To go from the 70's last Saturday and then to expect snow this Saturday! Must be Spring sports season as they usually start off with snow and rain until the weather changes to spring like temperatures.
Monday, March 7, was the first day we got to see so many beautiful faces without masks! While we certainly respect those who continue to wear their masks, it was a welcome change to others.
On March 8, our very own Teacher of the Year, who is also the County Teacher of the Year, Mr. Jim House, was honored at a NJ Devils game. Mr. House and many other talented county teachers of the year throughout the state were invited to a NJ Game where they were treated very well. What a vision to witness their picture on the big Jumbotron screen for all to see! Once again congratulations to Mr. House for representing EHT and Atlantic County! We are very proud of Mr. House and all his accomplishments. We are glad he is here with us at his alma mater teaching the great students of EHT!
A few weeks ago our seniors cast their votes for the Senior Superlatives! Those students who were selected had their pictures taken for the yearbook. I’m looking forward to seeing the winners when the yearbooks are issued! Check out our senior page, make sure you are purchasing your yearbook!
On March 10 and March 11, our Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), attended a state leadership conference at Harrahs, in Atlantic City. They are competing in an academic competition that consists of tests and projects. We wish them much luck!
On March 10, our AP Art History Class had an incredible field trip to the Penn Museum. A great time was had by all.
Until next week, have a wonderful weekend! Stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!
Ms. Connor

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Students of the Week
Nominee: Tevon Belgrave
Nominated by: James Cascio
Tevon has never given up in my class even when it's hard. He comes in every day with a positive attitude and has truly been putting in his effort greatly into the most recent chapter; completing all his work, and scoring an impressive 100 on the most recent test to boost his grade. I am very proud of him as he is working hard to succeed in his final year at EHT.
Nominee: Jenna Gray
Nominated by: Lara Subbotin
Jenna has been volunteering in my Eagle Boutique class since the beginning of the school year. She comes into Eagle Boutique during her study hall to assist students with their classwork and skills based work. When she walks into the room the students are so excited to see her come in they shout "HI JENNA!!!". If Jenna is not in Eagle Boutique that day, the students miss her so much. All 10 students ask, "where is Jenna?" and they are so concerned for her. She has built an amazing relationship with these students and her presence means so much to them.World Languages Week

COMMUNITY PRIDE
Student Assistance Program and Resources
The High School has adopted a new bullying-prevention program for this school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams. We even have 3 of our own students who were selected by the foundation as leaders for this initiative!
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring.
This notion is called being an #Upstander.
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
