STUDENTS OF THE MONTH!!!

Mr. Wolf: ...Danielle Tilstra!

Danielle came to OFL last year & ever since she has grown tremendously! She is always on top of her work and always goes above & beyond in her assignments. During distance learning she has maintained consistent communication with her teachers & has been able to thrive working virtually despite the obstacles. I am proud to nominate Danielle. She definitely deserves it!!

Mr. Rick: Bella Camarena

Bella has been a 4-6 units a month student. When I told her about the graduation on June 9th she earned 10 credits this month. The work Bella turns in is excellent. She has also held down a job through the pandemic and has never wavered. I am happy for her, she so deserves the STUDENT of THE MONTH.

Ms. Amanda: Emma Sakach

Emma is new to our program during virtual and has done an amazing job adapting. Emma is an incredible writer who always turns in exemplary work in all subject areas. I enjoy reading her thought out discussion posts and activities in Edmentum. I love learning about and from Emma!

Ms. Sonia: Joyce Hernandez!

She has been doing an amazing job during distance learning maintaining constant unit progression. Her positive attitude and willingness to try new things like meeting with a Math tutor on a weekly basis really speak of her desire to reach graduation. I love our check-ins as I always get updates on her little one. Congratulations kiddo and way to work towards your graduation during a pandemic!

Ms. Erin: Julian Tucker

We still have some goals to reach as far as increasing the amount of units he turns in each month, however, he has worked hard in other areas and I want to recognize and reward that. Julian has shown some great ownership skills with showing up and working with me at my appointments on a consistent basis to get work done despite the fact that he is feeling sick. Julian has also taken initiative with me to ensure I am aware when he is going to miss an appointment, and I know he has done the same with other teachers and support staff. I am super proud of seeing Julian develop and grow as a high school student and I know he will continue to do so in the future.

Ms. Alex: Ashley Gomez

Ashley is in my Geometry A DI class, and she has shown great leadership and courage during class as she is open to asking questions and encouraging peers to do the same. She will also give her best shot at trying out problems and will stay after class to ask questions. Ashley is also in Run Club and is a dedicated individual, showing commitment by being on time, showing up to run, and sharing her progress! Ashley is most deserving of another student of the month!

Mr. Tony: "Magnificent, Determined and Progressive" LUIS PEREZ!

He has come to a place in his educational path that he is truly becoming a Scholar and Lifelong Learner. He is working diligently and has made strives toward blazing a path toward self-improvement. He increased his RenStar Reading score by 161 points. I have high hopes for his ELPAC testing scores. He is blossoming as a student and developing a positive attitude that will suit him well as he succeeds in life and as he becomes a person of influence in his journey through life.

Ms. Heidi: Logan Bruening

Logan has been our student to "hold down the fort" with the Tuesday Cohort at the center. He is always there, even if he is the only student who showed up that day. Logan continues to have great attendance at the Tuesday cohort at the center working with the staff there and still attends virtual classes and appointments too! Since he enrolled at OFL in September of 2020 he has continued to show growth in his academics. Logan has great academic conversations with staff expressing his knowledge of different topics and can also be seen in his responses in his units. Keep up the hard work Logan, we can't wait to keep watching you learn and grow!
