Thank you to everyone for making my transition back to BHS a great one!

Big shout outs to the following staff members for bringing their students to the library during the month of September!!

Ms. Argenta, Ms. Boscarino, Ms. Carvalho, Ms. Cavanaugh, Ms. Cordero, Mr. DiMauro, Ms. Laporte, Ms. Mikan, Ms. Midford, Mr. Mishriky, Mr. Pallis, Ms. Scott, Ms. Teed, and Ms. Tierney.

Thank you to all who came visit us. We hope to see more of you during October!

How Can I Help You?

My favorite role is collaborating with teachers. I am more than happy to come teach your students. Some ideas include using a specific app or program, website evaluation, citing information, or conducting research.

This month I had the opportunity to pull historical fiction books for Ms. Cavanaugh's class, pulling high interest/low reading level books for Mrs. Teed's/ Mr. LaPorte's class, teaching Mrs. Cordero's class how to use Prezi, and teaching Mrs. Teed's class how to use Newsela.

Remember, I am here to support you in any way you need. Email me or stop by the library. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Library Happenings

We had a busy month in the library! In addition to moving around books and cleaning up our collection, we hosted a Freshmen library orientation. Students learned all about the resources we have available to them.

We also celebrated Banned Book Week! We hosted a variety of events, which included Black Out Poetry and a showing of The Lorax. Did you know that The Lorax was banned in 1989 because it was seen as portraying the foresting industry in an arguably negative way? Some people felt that this book was persuading children against the logging industry.

This month we are looking forward to purchasing new books to add to our collection. We will also be featuring our Graphic Novel collection and Spooky Stories! Graphic novels are a great way to hook reluctant readers. Feel free to bring your class by this month to check take a look.

Book in a Jar

Congratulations to Julia Assard for winning our first Book in a Jar contest! Julia correctly guessed The Great Gatsby and won an iTunes gift card. Stop by the library to guess this month's book!
