Major Landforms-
Here are some major landforms in the southwest: The Grand Canyon is located in Arizona; the Great Plains are located in all of the southwest regions; and the Colorado Plateau is located in Western Colorado, Northern New Mexico, Eastern Utah and Northern Arizona.
Major Bodies Of Water-
There are four major bodies of water in the Southwest. First is the Colorado river, which is located in the Grand Canyon. Second is the Gulf of Mexico, which borders Texas. Third is the Great Salt Lake, which is located in Utah. Finally the Rio Grande is a river that runs through Colorado, New Mexico, and the length of Texas and empties into the Gulf Of Mexico.
Names of the states and popular cities-
Arizona- Phoenix, Tucson Mesa, Glendale and Scottsdale
Texas- Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin and El Paso
New Mexico- Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and Roswell
Oklahoma- Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, Lawton and Broken Arrow
The Climate of the southwest region
The average temperature in the summer is over 100 degrees. In the winter the temperature varies. It can go anywhere from the 30s at night to a high of 70 during the day. The average rainfall is 12 to 16 inches a year.
