NCSCA CONFERENCE UPDATE
Attention NCSCA Members & Friends!!!!
NC SCHOOL COUNSELORS – ARE YOU READY???!!!!
In just two short weeks, we’ll be in Greensboro for our annual fall conference, November 5-7. I am excited and ready to see all of you there!!! If you haven’t registered, please do so today!!! You don’t want to miss a minute of all the excitement!!! Registration is easy.
At this time, you can visit the conference webpage ( www.ncyi.org/ncscac ) and download a grid that shows each breakout session being offered. In addition to the wonderful keynote, Interest Level and pre-conference speakers, we are pleased with the excellent breakout session speakers we have presenting at this year's event. We're going to have a fun- filled, action-packed conference, and we hope you'll be there to add to the excitement!
Just a quick reminder, if you register by November 3rd you'll receive the lower, advance registration rate. After that date you'll have to pay the higher on-site rates.
Although you can no longer reserve a hotel room on-line with the Koury Center at the lower conference rate, there are still rooms available at the hotel, and you might be able to get the lower conference rate when you call in your reservation. It’s always nice to take a colleague with you so that you can split costs and take advantage of state per diem rates. Check out the "Accommodations" section on the conference webpage for the hotel numbers, and the conference code you'll need to mention when you call. (www.ncyi.org/ncscac )

Welcome to all Southeast Region School Counselors!
I am Patricia Weaver, the NCSCA Regional Vice President for the Southeast Region. I am excited to be working with you all again this year!
I hope that you had a great summer! NCSCA had many exciting opportunities. We had very beneficial and informative Eastern and Western Academies this summer. If you were able to attend either of these professional development opportunities, please share what you learned with your colleagues!
Reminder: Register now for the North Carolina School Counselors Conference:

Remember back to your first days as a school counselor. Did you have a great mentor? Alternatively, did you need one? If you are willing to serve as a mentor to someone in our district or even across the state, let me know. You can also contact NCSCA’s Mentoring Coordinator, Angela Totty at Angela_Totty@catawbaschools.net. She is helping new counselors to make connections with great school counselor mentors who can support them in their development!
Finally, don’t forget to renew your membership for this school year. You can access the new or renewal membership on the website, www.ncschoolcounselor.org , there is a “Join NCSCA” tab at the top.
An NCSCA membership links you to many other great professional school counselors, helps in advocating for our profession, and gives you discounts to relevant professional development opportunities.
I wish you all the best for a wonderful and productive 2014-15 school year!
Please feel free to contact me at patriciaweaver@ccs.k12.nc.us if you have any questions or concerns.
